WINE BARS – If your looking for realllllllllllllly old guys to take you out then come here. The wine list is VERY POOR, mostly Ca wine, which I HATE CALI WINE!! GROSSSSSSS!!
The staff is nice but the manager is a total a*****, or could I say idiot or drunk or drugie... Either way a total deusch.
I usually dont come here unless friends do and they never come back after the firts time. Management makes a BIG difference in overall customer ratings. Just because a manager has been in the business long doesnt make them good, so BEWARE OF THIS PLACE.. OLD MEN, LOTS OF COUGARS THAT WILL HATE YOU IF YOUR UNDER 35 AND MANAGER THAT IS JUST TERRIBLE
Great Place for Party – Recently attended a holiday party here and had a great time. Fun and great atmosphere. Was incredibly crowded so be ready to wait for valet.
Great Wine and Atmosphere – This was the first time that me and my boyfriend visited the restaurant and we had a great time. They had a great selection of wines and the bartender was very helpful. They only had a few coctail waitresses around so it would have been more helpful if they had someone at the door to help you with sitting down and getting a menu since we were pretty hungry. We ended up sitting outside and it was great. They had someone playing music outside on the guitar and the weather was great. We will definitely go back for wine and a relaxing atmosphere .... not too much for food.
Mediocre Food and Apathetic Service – My girlfriend and I went to this place because we had a Groupon and were looking to have dessert. Uptown Park is upscale so we assumed that the service and the food would reflect this. Unfortunately, neither was up to par. The food was mediocre at best and the flavors were somewhat mismatched. There was no cohesiveness in the uninspired food choices. On top of that, the staff was uneducated with regards to the menu. Our waiter did not know anything about one of the only THREE desserts on the menu and misinformed us (he told us we were getting chocolate cake, but what he brought out was more like chocolate pudding). When we brought this up, he blamed the chef. When we asked for another dessert (from only THREE to choose from) he brought out the WRONG ONE! The service is very slow and we didn't have time to wait for a third attempt at getting the right dessert. The ONLY good part was the ambiance/nice outdoor seating area.
Take the bad with the good – I love this place to sit with friends. Yes, as other reviewers say, there are "those arrogant nobody's" lingering around. .. BUT who cares right? Ignore them as long as you and your company are having a good time.
the other reviews were right: BAD SERVICE!!! – I wish I could give zero stars to this place. The reason I gave it one star is because 1) I have to rate it 2) the valet guy was very nice (he should work at the Tasting Room, not these losers who think they're so 'high class' and elite!)
My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night around 11pm. It was pretty busy, so I understand you won't get top notch service, but that does not excuse RUDE behavior from the staff. I wasn't expecting them to dote on their customers hand and foot, given it was a busy busy night. But c'mon... you could try to be a LITTLE polite?
The fact that nobody comes by to take your order is enough to never go back to this place. It's so weird, I really expected for someone to come by and ask what I'd like.. not for my bf to go up at a busy counter and wait for someone to stop what they're doing to rudely ask "What do you want?" wow, I was absolutely taken aback by this place.
What's with the staff? Maybe it was the night we went, they were all having a bad day.. who knows. They seemed to have sticks up their *sses, like they're better than the customers who spend THEIR money on the staff.
Word of advice: get over yourself, staff. You are not better than anyone just because you work at a wine bar.
Not only that, but I expected a place where you could relax, have a glass of wine, and sit in a comfy chair. This place is NOT it. The chairs were uncomfy, the decor was mediocre, and it was almost ... stressful ... being there.
My boyfriend and I made a vow never to return, ever.
Unfortunately, I tipped the staff because I'm used to doing so. Looking back, I regret it!
the service sucked – This was the first restaurant/bar we have walked out of in a long time. We walked in and were waited on fairly quickly. We ordered wine and was served fairly quickly. Our waitress seemed somewhat scattered (had to ask for wine list, water, and some other indicators), but she seemed to take care of us. Until the food. We got her attention and told her that we wanted a couple of small plates to get started. The food never came- even after 45 minutes. We never had our wine poured. We had to ask for water. We asked about our food, and she said that it must not have come because we did not have a “number” on our table. Well, after another 15 minutes, we found our waitress inside, paid for the wine and left.
Needless to say, I am appalled at the service.
Yuck! – I cannot say anthing good about this place except its location I guess.
Service sucks - my wife was there and her patio umbrella blew over a glass of wine at her table and the waiter argued that it was her fault...argued.
Serivce sucks - took 1.5 hours to get a chicken sandwich today at a 40 person meeting...many of us took the food to go and I got last nights dry chicken, dry bun, and 13 stale chips.
Oh yeah, also had plans to do several tastings their prior to the above scenarios. No way would I be embarrassed by this overpriced product!
Excellent Lunch – Service was good. Spinach salad is excellent! Just right portion sizes - not too big. Thought parking would be bad - Uptown at noon - but easily found a spot just outside the restaurant. Will definitely return for lunch.
Wine and Dine with Bono – If it is sunny out and the music is right, I almost always have fun here with my friends. In the winter, they have heated patios. In the summer, they have fans. On the first Wednesdays of every month, they have Austin's Bono, Patrick Fleming who makes everyone yearn for U2.
Bartenders Chase and Anna are my favorites. They are great with names and give me VIP treatment. The others aren't as attentive as they are, because they are usually drying glasses.
The light and crispy truffle pizza is my absolute favorite meal there and goes well with any wine. The cheeses and meats are so so. Their Sunday brunch has a decent gourmet selection of omlettes, salads, salmon, fried chicken, roast, vegetables, and dessert.
The $6 tastings on Saturdays are a treat and will make you forget about shopping. They usually have pairings with cheeses and sandwiches.
