Seductive Food and Royal Service. I am surprised to read so many negative reviews of Skyline Bar & Grill. My fiancee arrived after making our reservation, and we were both seated almost immediately at a beautiful, corner window table. We ordered martinis, which were brought immediately; they were delicious and well-made. The menu is somewhat brief, but we truly loved our appetizers and the wonderful steaks that we ordered. We really enjoyed the very romantic evening view of Downtown Houston while talking and sampling appetizers, drinks, and steaks. The service was on cue, yet not intrusive. And we both found the restaurant, service and ambiance to be romantic and memorable.

Go somewhere else. this restaurant gets by only on its location. the food is almost non-existant, yes I realize Houston restaurant customers are accustomed to huge servings, but you should not go home from a $200 meal still hungry and feeling mistreated.

try anotherj downtown houston restaurant for your next special occasion dinner

Nothing exceptional about it.... From the moment that we got to the hotel everything went wrong. We had dinner reservations for a birthday celebration for 13 guests at 9:00pm, due to the valet (who wouldn't take our car) we were late 20 minutes. By the time we got up to the restaurant the manager was very rude and pushy, didn't give us any time to actually sit down and look at the menu and was constantly rushing us to order. The service was terrible, the wait staff was very unprofessional. The waiter didn't go over the specials and didn't even take our order (the manager did) and forgot to bring us bread. The menu doesn't give you much selection and the quality of the food is very poor. When we got our food, it tasted like it was old (the fish was not fresh) and it was prepared very poorly. When it was time to get our tab, it took forever and since we had a large party the 18% gratuity was already included. I figured that since our service was so bad that maybe the food would make up for it, but that was not the case. The only good thing that this restaurant has to offer is the good view. Other than that, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Great view. I?m surprised by all the reviewers who went here on their anniversaries and/or special occasions. I?m not sure if you guys noticed but this place is in a convention hotel. Not exactly the most romantic of settings. Anyways, I?ve been here a lot. I work out in the gym downstairs, and sometimes I grab a drink after my workout. As I mentioned the gym is downstairs on the 23rd floor, but the work out pool is actually on the same floor as the restaurant. You can actually see people swimming from the bar. Seeing some old geezer doing laps is not the most romantic view from the bar. Haha. As far as the food goes; it?s mostly a seafood menu, which is unfortunate for me because I don?t eat seafood but the steaks I?ve had have been good. All in all the food is okay, nothing spectacular. But the view makes up for the so-so food.

Not a happy ending. As a repeated customer, I am very disappointed about the changes at Skyline. I knew Skyline as a fine dinning restaurant with well mannered guests and a wonderful view. Recently, my fiance and I had dinner at Skyline. Our dinner was wonderful and the service was great, but what ruined our evenning was how loud the bar area was getting. As we were trying to enjoy our dinner, these people at the bar were getting louder and becoming obnoxious and some were allowed to sit at the dinning area just to have cocktails. We were spending a lot of money that night to have it be ruined by a bunch of people that cannot control their liquor. What kind of manager allows this.....choosing these drunk people versus people who are spending money in full course dinners and expensive wines. Oh, and it doesn't end here.....to top the night, my fiance went into the mens restroom and it was filthy and it had a beer bottle stuck in the toilet.

not fine dinning at all! More like a sports bar. My wife and I went to celebrate our 12th anniversary at Skyline. We have heard so many wonderfull things about the view, food , martinis etc.. We had very good service and the food was excelent. However, we sat about four tables down from the bar and let me say that it ruined my entire evening. The noise level from drunk annoying people was incredibly loud. Not to mention later on the manager sat some people on the tables closer to us which was no different from the bar. Anyway we finished our ruined meal and left. The restaurant has no respect for dinning customers! I should have gone to a sports bar!

Not for the average couple. My boyfriend took me for a special dinner and we were both highly dissapointed. We are an average couple so it meant alot for us to come to such a nice place. We expected the best and got worse then any hole in the wall. We had reservation yet we had to wait even though i saw lots of tables available. We waited at the bar and i ordered a raspberry martini and the waiter had to ask how it was made. We were seated by a window which the view was amazing but it stopped there. We ordered our meals and was dissapointed to see less then 1/4 of the size food of an average meal for 4 times the amount of money. We saw our waiter maybe 2 times once to order and once to bring our food. No refills, no seeing if everything is ok. NOTHING! Yet we were forced to pay a high gratuity. I could understand if we had a large group but we like to determine tip based on service and he was not worth what we paid! we both left hungry and very unsatisfied. We NEVER plan on visting again.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!. We stopped by here for drinks and appetizers. The view was phenominal, the drinks were great and we had a small appetizer. Haven't eaten a full meal there yet, but it is so romantic we just like to stop and have drinks now and then. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK, :)
