We hired Kevin of Natures Realm to design our backyard after much Internet research. . As it turned out, he was also responsible for the massive landscaping of a house that I had often admired, just one block away. 

We live in the Heights and as is typical in this area, our backyard is small. We wanted a small pool though, aka "spool" or "cocktail pool" . 

Kevin and his,partner Dwight transformed a boring square backyard into an inviting, lush and tropical space. Included in this design was not only the pool, but a pergola, a large espaliered tree, decorative wood boxes to house patio citrus trees, painted fences, mirrors and lighting. This is not a run of the mill backyard. This is a backyard with INTEREST.

Kevin took me on a field trip to the nursery and we spent over two hours....him showing me options of what would work in different spaces and also as an opportunity for him to get a feel for what type of plants I gravitated toward. This would later prove to be invaluable as we got closer to the actual selection of planting materials.

Kevin has a keen eye for design, color and balance. He is passionate about his work and strives for perfection.

Our backyard is beyond what I ever envisioned. And I know Kevin is just a phone call away if I have questions or concerns about my plants in the future.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to take a dip in my pool. ;)

Frustrated by another landscaping company (that shall remain nameless) not doing the job right the first time, I turned to citysearch to try and find someone who had a reputation of good work and fair pricing. Kevin and his crew were exactly that. He was able to fix the shoddy irrigation work that the previous crew had done and turned our backyard, which had began to look like a construction site, to the nicest part of our home. I couldn't be happier with how helpful and patient Kevin was during the process and he never made me feel like my abundance of questions (I was very hesitant from previous bad experiences) were of any bother. I hadn't budgeted to do everything I wanted, because as I mentioned I unfortunately went in with low expectations, but seeing what he was able to do with what I had, I can't wait to get them back out here the first chance I get to make our outdoor living area as functional and to look as good as our yards!

Not knowing where to look for landscape design I took to the internet and came across Natures' Realm and while I am careful trusting general reviews, given the feedback I had seen I decided to give Kevin a call. To start with I appreciated his approach to the project. Took many pictures, listened to our needs and then started working on a plan. While these projects can get out of hand from a budget perspective, he stayed within budget the entire project without sacrificing the final product. We are very pleased with the results and we just finished in November. Can't wait until spring and everything starts blooming. If looking for a landscape architect/designer he is definitely worth talking to. I would highly recommend him.

I looked at many reviews and had several landscapers over to my house before I stumbled upon Kevin with Nature's Realm. Most other landscapers were not able to envision anything other than the typical suburb model home look. I wanted something truly unique. Kevin gave me straight answers and realistic options from our first meeting. He and his wonderful mentor Dwight transformed my barren brick wall surrounded courtyard and pool area into a wonderful cottage-garden oasis. He put in just the right accents and pulled every thing together with beautifully unusual mosaic plant choices. Highlights include the pergola covered dining area, the wrought iron arches that frame the back flower beds and the beautiful vine covered walls. I really could not have imagined that this transformation could be possible. While Kevin's demeanor may be a little brusk, nearly every time he disagreed with me he turned out to be right. My back yard is now a piece of art. All who have visited our house have marveled in its beauty. I am sad as the weather gets colder that I will not be able to spend as much time out there. I recommend Nature's Realm wholeheartedly and the end product was worth every penny. I cannot wait until he comes back to do the front yard!

We weren't sure what exactly we wanted, but we wanted our yard to look nicer and an added area in the back to protect us from the sun during these hot summers. We didn't know of any places in our area firsthand (sugar land) so we just went with the place online that had the best feedback. We were worried that what we were after may not fit into what Kevin and his crew does, or that they'd all too busy to sit down with us and go over each option we had. Kevin did just that and what he was able to do surpassed our expectations for sure. He also had knowledge from plants and planting to all types of construction throughout all phases of project. And on top of being incredibly happy with the finished product, Kevin followed up after completion to make sure we were happy with our new backyard.

We bought a house in Richmond with a great pool but need for more privacy from neighbors. Kevin came out so quickly and suggested a plan which exceeded all of our expectations. The Cedar Trellis he had contructed for us is the shining star of the landscaping. Well Done!! Highly recommend.

As Good As It Gets. Trust the reviews! With everyone promising great service I took to the internet to find out who I should go with for redoing our back yard. I wasn't lucky enough to know someone first hand to recommend him so I had to trust what I read here, and I'm glad I did. Everything that can be said has been said here. The work is great, not good, the cost is fair, not cheap and the result is worth the time and money it takes. We had big plans, we redid basically everything we could think of in the back and even added some things we hadn't thought of until sitting down with Kevin (such as irrigation). I also can't go grocery shopping without overthinking every decision but Kevin was patient and helped me decide what he thought would fit best within our budget and what changes would transform our yard into a second living room (which it has already become now thanks to these outdoor ceiling fans). I will without a doubt use Kevin and his crew again when we renovate the front as well. I normally don't bother with reviews either, I don't even have an account at the places I get them from, but after seeing how helpful they were this time around I just had to come and share. Thanks!!

Excellent Landscaping Job. After reading many stellar review's of Kevin's work online, we decided to hire him to redo our entire front yard, as well as the yard on the north side of our house. This was a very large project and it took a little over four months to complete everything. Before the actual landsaping could be addressed, there were drainage and irrigation issues that needed to be addressed. First, the trim on our house was painted and new gutters were installed. The old front yard basically consisted of a semi-circle gravel driveway lined by a few pitiful beds of overgrown and dead plants. Almost everything in the old yard was removed, along with the second concrete driveway entrance. Pavers were used to install a new walkway from the street to the front porch and a new driveway. The irrigation system was updated and expanded. A wrought iron fence, gate, and electronic driveway gate were installed in front and a beautiful arbor with cedar fence were built on the south side of the yard. Beds of plants were arranged around two large circular areas of Bermuda grass. Kevin accompanied us to a local nursery to show us all the plant options that were available for our yard. We told him what we liked and he designed the beds around our preferences. We have tons of gardenias, azaleas, camellias, and hydrangeas, among many other beautiful plants. Gravel walkways were also included in the yard design. The narrow north side yard is composed of a gravel path leading to the back yard. The path is lined on both sides with many plants and gives an overall green and lush effect. A water fountain was installed against the fence on that side and can be seen through our dining room windows. Overall, the yard is really beautiful and we could not be more pleased with the way it turned out. Passersby are constantly stopping to compliment the yard and ask who did the work. Kevin is very knowledgeable and he still checks in with me to see how all the plants are doing and ask if we are having any problems. Although we had a few minor ups and downs during the whole lengthy process, I would highly recommend Kevin. He is very honest and works hard to ensure that your expectations are met or exceeded. If you can dream it, he can make it happen for you!

Couldn't be happier!. I'm one of the jealous neighbors that you will read about in previous reviews. After seeing how this crew was able to turn our neighbors dirt pile into what they did, I eventually gave in and asked who did their work. I was told how helpful Kevin would be, but I decided to see for myself. After we set up a date and time for him to come out he was able to let us know a wide variety of options of what we could do with our back yard. We wanted it to be quite lavish but still realistic and Kevin was able to give us a realistic budget and estimate on when we could expect the work to be done. He definitely follows the underpromise, overdeliver strategy because everything was even better than we had hoped for and done sooner than expected. Mind you, this wasn't an overnight job, good work takes time, but considering the reputation of many of the landscapers around here, I was blown away at how efficient and thorough his team was with their and our time. My only regret was waiting this long

Even Better Than Advertised. After speaking with several well-known companies in the area we felt Natures Realm not only had the best plan of what to do with our ideas but also had clearest vision of what we were trying to accomplish in our backyard. Their design was fabulous and we absolutely love our backyard now. Our friends and neighbors are already impressed and talking about copying parts of our yard to their very own. Kevin was honest and up front about costs and scheduling of the work and the time frame of completion and he and his team definitely delivered in all aspects, and they made sure we understood and loved every detail when they were finished, we couldn't be happier . At the risk of repeating myself I'll just say one last time that we definitely chose the right company for our yard.
