Citysearch Editorial Review. Mango's isn't exactly a café. It lurks somewhere between restaurant, bar, and hippie/grunge indie music venue. The dank, not scrupulously clean dining area is flanked by a long bar and poorly-lit concert stage, which features a rotating cast of local bands performing everything from reggae to alt-country. Herbivores will be pleased by the vehemently all-vegetarian menu, whose dishes range from the pleasantly creative (creamy green tofu lemongrass curry) to the downright bizarre (pizza with black bean sauce, plantains, and pecans). The Texas beer list is excellent, and bartenders are friendly and unpretentious. Maybe not quite the place to bring a classy date, but perfect for taking in some loud music, quirky food and cold drinks.
Tasty veggie cuisine.
Great variety of vegetarian and vegan food on the menu. My favorites are the Big Baby Jesus and The Hulk sandwiches. They do a $5.00 happy hour menu on the weekdays that includes a beer and a meal.
The people who work there are friendly and quick to suggest something tasty on the menu. They have a lot of live music performances by local artists.
The service is a bit slow, but if you are looking for a laid back bar/restaraunt, this is it!
Mango's Cantina is now Mango's Vegetarian Cafe. Love this place! I'm halfway through trying the whole menu-- faves are the green curry tofu, The Luca Brasi pizza and the 'Trose Toast (VEGAN French toast!)
Mango's Cantina is now Mango's Vegetarian Cafe. Mango's just re-opened as a vegetarian cafe with really good salads and personal pizzas- my fave is the white cheddar with mushrooms and caramelized onions. I want to check out their breakfast- the menu said they have a tofu scramble!
Great business. I can't understand why this restaurant always seems empty. The people who work here are wonderful, the food is delicious, and their margaritas are excellent. I would recommend the seafood dishes.
LONGHORNE. AWFULL,SORRY NOT MY TIPE OF RESTAURANT,THE WORST IN LONG TIME
Excellent!.
I was surprised to see such a negative review, though the review is a little old. My experience was so overwhelmingly positive...
Beautiful place, great food (best rice ever!), wonderful service... it's my first time there, went for the lunch special. Got so much for $5.00 Those who left while I was there were all very happy with the place also.
All I can guess is that this place is doing its best to make a remarkable turnaround. I wish them luck, I'll be a regular myself from now on.
No wonder it was empty. Having been a big fan of El Pueblito, I was hoping that this off-shoot might rekindle the fond feelings I had for many years until recently. We went on Saturday night and entered an empty restaurant at 6:45 - ouch. That was a good sign. I am no food snob, but this was horrible. Since we didn't get sick, I didn't give it the lowest rating. At least the margarita was good...
