Tips for Forno's of Italy

Great service thanks to Mike but very subpar food. The 'rolls' were whole wheat hamburger buns. Really? The pizza was greasy, and tasted only slighty better than a frozen pie. The Caesar salad gets an 'okay.' They could use a lighter hand on the dressing. It's concerning when a dining room is empty on a Saturday night. And even more concerning, a sign posted near the door advertising their excellent burgers. Really?

What a Great Place to Eat. My wife and I have been going to Fornos on 43rd since Armando and Vickey (his wife) opened the place. The service and food are always excellent and they treat you like family. Miguel and Mike are two of the best waiters in town. We have invited several of our friends there for dinner (we go almost every Friday night) and they have always raved about the food, the atmosphere, and the welcoming attitude of the employees.

This is the best place in town for value and quality.

Great food. Great food, nice folks. I eat there a couple of times a month. The specials, from the sea bass to the fillets on sizzling platters are great. Definitely worth the price. The traditional Italian dishes like spaghetti and lasagna are excellent. The complementary hot rolls are worth the trip alone! My favorite dessert is the tres leches, the best. The party rooms are really nice.

Very expensive. I spent $37.00 on lunch. I had the Sea Bass, the waiter failed to tell me the price, it was not on the menu, ior on the board as you walk in the restaurant. Personally I feel like it is the waiters responsibility to inform you of the price when you ask about the special. I normally do not spend so much on my lunch! As far as the quality of the food...Well I ordered a house dinner salad(3.00). it looked like a handful of iceberg lettuce with a slice of tomato with approx 1/4 c of italian dressing poured on top. The Sea Bass was not bad, however it and the rice were swimming in a creamy sauce. I was very dissapointed in the entire experience. I will stick with Maggiano's and Piatto, excellent food , staff and I do not mind paying for that!

good neighborhood italian restaurant. Since I've only had the spaghetti and meatballs at Forno's, I'll keep my comments brief and to the point.

The homemade pasta sauce at Forno's is the best I've tasted in Houston. It's not your typical out-of-the-can tomato marinara sauce with tons of acid, I found it to be sweet, smooth, and very delicious. The service is o.k, although on one occassion the wait staff, seemed to be standing around staring at the customers, which my fiance and I felt uncomfortable about, however, it won't keep us from going back.

KSW. What a great experience we had here! Even though the staff was dog-tired from Mother's Day lunch crush, they were delightful and accomodating that evening. The food was quite good with unique flavor combinations and complexities compared to others in the city - including chains like Carrabas, plus a great value.

Worth coming outside the loop & remains on our "go-to" list!

Fornos of Italy on W. 43rd Street. We went with friends to Fornos of Italy on W. 43rd Street for the first time over the weekend. Great place for a delicious Italian dinner.....the 10 oz. filet mignon special was positively outstanding, with a balsamic reduction that was absolutely the BEST BY FAR that I have ever tasted. They make everything fresh, including a heavenly Tres Leches. Everything that was supposed to be served cold was very well-chilled, and everything that was supposed to be hot was hot. Perfect. Service was outstanding, comfortable ambience, with plenty of interesting and well-displayed items of decor, and

a very friendly atmosphere. Mike, the new manager, will make you feel very welcome!

We will definitely return!

Excellent food. I have eaten here several times and I have never had anything but wonderful service and great food. I ordered the chicken breast stuffed w/three cheeses and sundried tomatoes and cream sauce. It was excellent, the vegetables were great and the pasta delicious. It also came with a great ceasar salad. The staff was very attentive and professional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great italian food. Also, in the past I have had the crab cakes and they rate a 10.0!

We thought it was delicious.. We go out to eat 3 times per week, (not counting lunch) and we thought it pretty good. It's not going to be our favorite place, but for the price, I would recommend it. We had good service too.
