Houston >Late Night Pie
“It's great atmosphere with a couple of laughs and great tunes and if your lucky, a good talk with the staff.”
“Late Nite Pie is the perfect place for people who want an authentic, hand tossed pie.”
“they also have good prices on beer.”
“tipped her and brought the pizza upstairs to find that after we waited so long the damn thing was cold AND burnt.”
“If you are looking for good, post-drinking food, I'd avoid this place.”
“If it tastes great and is served by a friendly wait staff all the better!”
“I'm in Houston on business and getting tired of my few, overpriced selecitons for room service I went in search for some good delivery in Ho.”
“We waited several more minutes and considered going to him to order our pie but finally decided that if he couldn't be bothered with even acknowledging our presence that we couldn't be bothered with spending our money there.”
Cash ONLY Establishment. Does not accept MC/Visa/AMEX/Disc!. I didn't even get a chance to go inside. There's a big sign on the front door that reads it only accepts cash. Isn't this 2011? almost 2012? what legitimate business doesn't accept credit/debit cards? ODD.
This place has gone down hill. I've been a LNP regular for some time, but it's going downhill. Their pizza quality has been inconsistent. They're always out of good beer - never seem to have what's listed on their menu. Last night they were out of ranch and Dr. Pepper. I had to get my soda cup and fill it up myself, and I had to go hunt down cheese and pepper. After I ordered a slice of pepperoni, it was taking forever. The bartender wasn't noticing, so I had to ask him. Turns out the pizza got burnt, so they had to put in a new one - which took more time. They did give me an extra free slice. Nobody there seemed to be paying attention. I'm gonna go somewhere else.
just change your hours if you don't want to stay open late!. Okay, so pizza is alright, at best ... we all know that. The whole positive thing is they are open late. (hence the name) If you don't want to stay open late, stop picking up the phone and hanging up at 2:30 am, or change the name to "Open Kinda Late" and just adjust your hours! Seriously, I started trying to call at 2:30 am on a Friday night. It was a series of hang ups and busy signals. What a bunch of idiots.
Horrible service and long wait times. I am never going to late night pies. On my last visit, I they had no ice! I asked if the drinks would be free then, and the waitress said no. Really how are you going to charge for a drink with no ice. Then after an hour ( really an hour, not exaggerating) , I asked where was my pizza. The waitress told me that "it takes a long time". That really didn't answer my question. So I got up and left.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me . . ..
I wish they had a 1/2 star, it's too generous to give them a 1-star. We have frequented Late Night Pie several times in the last year, and had a great time:ok-good service, great food, all was well.
We hadn't been in a few months so decided to go back a few weeks ago. We ordered breadsticks for an appetizer and then an Italian Stallion to devour. Service was a little lag, but we chalked it up to a full house. We waited, waited, waited some more, in hopes of some breadsticks to munch on before the pizza, but no breadsticks in sight. We asked the waitress, she ran off to "check" on them . . . another 10 minutes later and the pizza gets there, WTCRAP what happened to the breadsticks?! I called the waitress over to cancel the breadsticks but they were "almost ready." So shortly after here come the breadsticks . . . I'm not sure what part of "We'd like the breadsticks as an appetizer" they didn't understand, but whatever, we decided not to make a big deal, just eat and go.
About two weeks later (NYE) we got done with our evening's festivities around 1am and were hungry for pizza, so we decided to give LNP another try. We walk in, it's fairly empty, so we thought SCORE! and we'd be in and out in no time . . . ha! not so much . . . We ordered some potato skins as an appetizer, and a large Italian Stallion and Medium Pep/Mushroom all at the same time. The potatos skins took some time but at least it came before the pizza. So we wait, wait, wait, the Italian Stallion came out, but where's the Pep/Mushroom? Waitress ran off to go "check" on it (same waitress as two weeks before). She came back and assured us it was "almost ready." I've heard this one before missy! I know your tricks!
So anyways, we let a few minutes pass, other people had since come in and were starting to get their pizzas, and we asked again, still "almost ready." I think I asked two more times, we ate the whole Italian Stallion and my friends were still waiting on their pizza, and FINALLY I asked one last time, trying my best to control my temper, and she FINALLY brought it out . . she had the kitchen box it up and then brought it to the table. I was a little UPSET to say the least, my friends didn't even get to enjoy their pizza with us! Then they mock us by putting it in a box for us since it was close to closing time already . . . The whole experience was 2 hours of suckage gone forevever from my life!! Never again will I step foot in LNP, next time we'll go to Frank's Pizza . . .
THEIR TITLE MIGHT AS WELL BE "WE LIE".
I am really very easy to get along with, and I love me some pizza after a very late night of working (in the bar industry). Also, being a person of the industry I have a very, very lax personality (especially when if comes to "slow response rates" and rudeness). I've tried calling several times and probably 2/6 times of ordering I've actaully received my pizzza. I mean, you can only wait for so long before you feel like it takes nothing short of a national pizza shortage before you give up and just make yourself a PB&J, bowl of popcorn and eat a slice of cheese. Really?! Is this what "Houston Pizza" means?! LATE NIGHT PIE...does that mean 10pm lights out? are they on a curfew????
Just so you know, I used to be a regular, but it's 3am, I worked all night and late night to me is now. YET, I called an hour ago and was told they were closed--i't's Saturday and they hung up me because it was "too late and I was annoying them during "closing processes". Good times for you, bad times for Houston. You probably should learn how to operate and the meaning behind "late night". Oh and your "pie" sucks a fat one. My dog could cook a better one and he thinks dirt is filet mignon. Rave on houston.
Does Late Night Equate to Lazy Service?. When you go for late night dining, expectations or pretty low, you want your food hot,and fast. If it tastes great and is served by a friendly wait staff all the better! Well the staff seemed confused that a table of eight wanted to be sat together, after much mulling around we finally put some tables together and ordered. The normal stuff, no special orders, just pizza and salads, We did not expect all the pizzas to come out at the same time, but after 20 minutes the first pizza came out charred, The server put it down and asked if we still wanted it? HuH it looked like a giant hockey puck..no thanks. After that service went to hell! To make matters worse one couple did not get their pizza until after we had eaten all of ours.(the server said that's because they didn't accept the hockey puck )Thats when the snippy manager came over and offered them half price, take it or leave it. They declined the generous offer, she yanked the pizza off the table, and flounced away in a huff! Considering that this was the couple who had recommended the place it was pretty embarrassing to them. It was clear our patronage was not needed and we will happily oblige them. If you are in need of a little late night snack, go to the many places that actually want your patronage,
Late Nite Pie was awesome!!.... 6 months ago. What happened?.
For the past few years my boyfriend and I have been ordering the same thing from LNP about every week. The drivers always got our pizza to the house really quickly * probably because we tipped at least 50 percent* and the large peperoni, sausage, mushroom, and goat cheese pizza we ordered would melt in our mouths. About 6 months ago something changed about the service and quality of food we were getting but last night was the cherry on top. The first pizza we ordered last night took over an hour to get to us and the barred out girl who brought it up to the door did not keep it in a heating bag so it was cold. I tipped her and brought the pizza upstairs to find that after we waited so long the damn thing was cold AND burnt. So I called back to let them know and the guy was really cool about it and sent us another one.
We had ordered the first pizza at around 10 or 10 30. We did not get something edible until 1 15 the next morning.
What really ticked me off was that there were not any managers there last night. How can you keep a profitable business running or make sure your business is doing well if there is no one there watching the place.
So, here is a message for Late Nite Pie owners, You are now out at least 80 bucks a months. We will be taking our business elsewhere as I am positive other people will be doing. Maybe you should get off your lazy asses and hire people who arent driving around on hard drugs.
Great pizza. I love this place. The pizza is some of the best in Houston and very laid back.
One of Houston's Worst Pizza so far.....
We are new to the Houston area; we moved from the Cleveland Oh area a few months ago. We decided to order Late Nite pie one night after we had had a few drinks with some friends. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza for delivery. The person on the phone said that it would take approx. 45 min. which it did.
However when we got the pizza we noticed the crust was extremely thin & flimsy. There was hardly any sauce on the crust and the cheese wasn't gooey. There was a large amount of grease atop the pizza. Well our first bite was pretty much our last. The crust tasted like soppy cardboard, the cheese tasted processed and the sauce was extremely bland. The pizza was DISGUSTING. A pizza lunchable tasted better than Late Night Pie. To make matters worse both my husband & I got heartburn as we tried to eat the pizza because it was so awful. We still haven't found a good pie in Houston, someday it will happen. I don't know how other people have written good reviews about this food, it is just plain awful.
