B E W A R E !!! – Beware!!! Food Poisoning!!!! It was not just me, but three other people too!
Is dining here worth spending all night & day in the bathroom, not to mention almost 102 degree fever?
If you want Persian food, Darband and Garson are just up the street! Kasra is not too far away. All three of those places are great, and you won't get sick!!!!!
Best Persian food in Houston – As soon as you sit down, you get a fresh warm bread out of oven taftoon with sabzi (similar but much better than pita bread with basil, mint, parsly, feta cheese, radish on the side) and on the house.
I ordered a Sultani with basmati rice (one tenderloin of beef kabob and one kobideh (ground beef kabob)), they were cooked just right, very tasty, juicy, and tender as a persian I would say they did a great job.
I also ordered appetizer (tadik (bottom of hard rice)with half ghaymeh and half ghormeh sabzy)) it was excellent, doug (yogurt drink) was home made and good.
Service was fast and friendly. Price is great as well.
Nice location, good food, friendly waitstaff – I've been driving by this place for 2 years now and wondering how their food was so I and a friend decided to try it out. The location is very easy to find and have a nice clean well lit parking lot and the whole shopping center is new. Our waitress was very nice and right away brought us table veggies (mint, onions, etc) and a fresh baked persian bread before she took our order. The food came out fast and she was very attentive to us but not to the point that it would be annoying. I don't think she was Persian, but she sure had Persian hospitality. Overall, good place. I'm glad to see that Hillcroft between 59 and Westpark is becoming new and slowly turning into a nice part of town...if only the rest of Hillcroft would follow!
good kabobs, sides not to good, beware- prices not correct. – at least we can say the kabobs were good. my husband's lamb kabob was small, but super tender and tasty. my kofta kabob was huge and well cooked. as for the sides, which i think really make the meal, the hummus was a little to citrus- y for our tastes and the tabouli salad was mostly onions. you could tell that it had been sitting for quite a while. i'm new to houston, but from what i can tell, it's pretty common, at least from the restaurants in that area. they all had their sides pre-made and in plastic, they kabobs ready to go. the service was good. our waitress was super nice. the persian kid that took our order could have a little more patience. he seemed to get upset with our questions about the food, like he had better things to do than explain the dishes. when we went to check out- our prices were raised .99 cents more that what the listed prices where! i asked the owner, who was ringing up our bill, what the deal was, and he said that they had raised the prices in jan. well, post the correct ones! it's not like they had a stack of menus to correct, just one board that looked like it was priced with stickers. that really upset me. the quality of the sides and the price thing are the reasons we won't return. i'm sure you can get good kabobs anywhere. it's just meat on a stick. (oh, the restrooms were dirty.)
Great Prices and Great Flavors – This restaurant actually flavors their typical persian dishes like they should be!! The "Khoreshe Gheime" and "Ghorme Sabzi" with the Tadik was AWESOME!! I was so pleasantly surprised! Great prices and great-tasting food. I'll be back for the best bang for my bucks!
So-so – Good Persian food, but I've had better. The food is bargain-priced. Try the Khobiedeh plate with beef kabobs. I wish they weren't so skimpy on the appetizer, the traditional flatbread with herbs and feta cheese. If you are in the area, this is a nice, quick place to get decent Persian food. But, by all mean, do not go out of your way.
Best Persian Food in Houston – Great quality food, reasonable prices, indoor & outdoor dining, and a nice place!
