“Perry Homes has provided me with excellent service and a great product from start to finish and even after they sold me my new home.”
“After talking to my neighbors and looking around the block it seems as though these homes have an amazing resell value.”
Used to be a reputable home builder. Now they rush through building and make shoddy houses. Don't buy a Perry home. Backyard floods, garage doors do not close all the way, nails are popping out of the dry wall, siding has fallen off, cabinets in kitchen have lost all varnish, stain and the wood is chipping, Air Conditioner is too small for the size of the house and we have had to replace the air conditioning coil 3 times. All of which Perry Homes says they will not fix. The house was built in 2006, not a long time ago. WARNING!
Perry Homes is nothing more than a High
Tech Used Car Sales Type of Company. Their sales team are nice, and that is the only nice thing that I can say about them.
Their Middle Management interfers too much with the buying and building process! Wait until you go to the Design Center, it gets even worse! Not only do they want 50% up front for any upgrades that you choose, but most of the things that you have to settle for are things that you really do not want.
My wife and I went to the Design Center last month (Jan 2013). It seemed like just about anything that we wanted, we were told 1 of 3 things in response.
1) It is out of Stock
2) It is not offered anymore
3) It was a mistake (Which is my favorite of all 3)
Perry Homes ended up loosing the sale of a 300,000 plus dollar house over a 400 dollar wine rack that the Design Center refused to offer me among other things!
The Design Center was insisting that I choose the Olive Garden Resturant style wine rack that they had instead!
The wine rack that we wanted was something that we saw in another house (with the exact same floor plan) that was closed on about 5 months ago.
This wine rack of which I speak of, was the selling point for us wanting to buy the floor plan that we chose.
I even warned the Design Center that if I did not get the Wine Rack that I wanted, I would cancel my contract. Their attitude was for me to do what I needed to do! Frankly, I believe they thought I was bluffing! I guess they know now that I was not bluffing!
Just so you know, we live in a Perry Home right now and we have been very happy with the house. That is the biggest reason that we wanted to buy another Perry Home.
But since we bought our last home, the management has changed for the worse! All they are concerned with are the numbers and not what will make you happy as a home owner.
Perry Homes needs to understand that when people go to buy a house, it is much more than just a roof over their head and a place to sleep. This is a place where people will rasie a family! A baby will take their first steps, have their first birthday, and make a lot more memories for the family. As a family, this is where they will celebrate holidays, entertain guest, and make the house a home!
So when buyers say they want certain things that they have seen in other Perry Homes and are not custom projects, maybe Perry Homes should listen!
Perry Homes management only agreed to do the things that we wanted if we paid more ernest money. I refuse to pay more ernest money for things that are offered to other Perry Home owners.
Another thing is when someone is trying to buy the house of their dreams, the builder should not fight them every step of the way and make their dream into a Night Mare!
Since we cancelled our contract, we have looked at houses with other builders! Just about every builder that we talked with, had just as nice homes if not nicer! Their homes even had more Character and Charm than a Perry Home. Especially in the inside of the homes! The other builders were very interested in getting you the things that would help them to sale you a house. Something that Perry Homes knows nothing about.
So beware of the old Bait and Switch when you go look at Perry Homes and you see things that you like and you ask if you can get those same things!
Because they will say; Yes!
But after the contract is signed, you will be told one of the three things that I mentioned before!
1) It is out of Stock!
2) It is not offered anymore!
3) Don't forget my favorite of them all..."It was a Mistake!"
I hope that everyone finds this comment helpful and does not waste their time with Perry Homes until Perry Homes wakes up and changes their attitude towards the buyers!
For myself, I will not buy another Perry Home! I got burnt!
PERRY HOMES HAS NO ETHICS
We purchased a Perry home in Lake Shore on Feb. 2, 2012 that was on the ground and had not sold thinking we had one of our two homes sold. Our deal fell through days before closing. In order for us not to lose our deposit, we purchased a second home in Summer Wood that was just started, but Perry wanted another $2,000 earnest money. We had to go to the design center and chose colors and options totaling another $11,260.75 and were required to pay half upfront.
Our home that we are currently living in sold, but 4 days prior to closing the buyers contract fell through. We are grandparents raising three grandchildren needing a larger home and are very budgeted. We are now out a very large amount of money. We understand that the Perry house sold for more than what it was sold to us for.
I can understand the reasoning for the earnest money & upgrades moneys. However if money is not lost on the home sale, I would think that the moneys would be returned to the buyer. Not with Perry. They do not care about their customers, only the money they can put in their pockets.
They are not even members of the BBB.
Please do your homework before you buy!
some things weren't covered by warranty: like uneven counter tops, cracks on brick veneers and driveways. bad concrete work on curbs and driveways.
Dishonest sales person at Perry Homes
Aliana.
I have entered into a contract with Perry Homes in Aliana new community. They are raising the price of the home even after signing a written agreement and cashing my Earnest Money cheque.
I have wasted all my time to get loan approvals, ran my credit with their partner mortgage company which is a headache dealing with unprofessional consultants and still waiting for my earnest money cheque. What a waste of time!
Totally dishonest and unprofessional...
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE-- RUN AWAY!!!
My wife and I have saved for years to get the house we wanted and we refuse to settle for anything less. We went out to tour the Perry homes and they were beautiful. Both of us fell in love with a house and proceeded to drive around and pick out the plot of land that would soon hold our first home. So far this has been such an incredible experience. My wife and I decide that we will put down 10k toward the purchase when the required was 3k.
Arriving back out our salesman office she tells us that even though we have a "PRE APPROVAL" from our credit union, as well as we are backed by a VA HOME LOAN GUARANTEE- they simply refuse to start the process unless we allow them to also pull our credit and to obtain a “pre-approval with their lender”. --Now why the hell would you do this if I have a credit union saying they will lend me money on a house that exceeds what we are spending by over 80k? This makes absolutely no sense- I refused to allow them to ding my credit over this and they let us walk.
After numerous calls to upper management NO RETURN CALLS were given. This is absolutely embarrassing for PERRY as a company and it speaks mountains about your homes when you try to *stiff arm/Bully* your own potential customers to endure the headache of working with your lenders. Oh, and BTW turned a guaranteed sale into a sour experience for all of us.
I WILL NEVER BUY PERRY HOME AND HOPE YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME AS WELL.. MAKE SURE EVERYTHING YOU DISCUSS WITH THESE PEOPLE IS PUT IN WRITING OR THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO SCREW YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY!!! ALSO- THEY HAVE OVER 8K BUILT INTO PRICE TO GIVE TO A REALTOR-? IF NOT USING ONE GET THAT AMOUNT TAKEN OFF IN UPGRADES OR PRICE OF THE OVERALL HOUSE!
Buyer Beware on Perry Homes' Ambassadors.
We signed the contract on March 27, 2012 and the expected closing day is April 27, 2012. Unfortunately, our bank, Chase is not able to close on April 27, 2012 and needs an extension to May 11, 2012. Perry Homes’ Ambassadors in Shadow Creek Ranch, Pearland, TX refused to cooperate and force us to lose our $2,000 deposit in exchange for the extension on the closing day. Perry Homes’ Ambassadors in Shadow Creek Ranch not only disappoint us but also bring down the quality and commitment of the company toward customers.
First of all, by law, builders have to reimburse customers deposit if customers are not approved by the lenders for the loan. Assuming that we are not able to close the house on April 27, 2012; in another term, we are not qualified for the loan at that moment. As we all know that the builder has to reimburse the deposit to us.
Second of all, not selling the house to us means that Perry Homes has to wait for another customer to buy that house; and it will take the new customer another month to close the house. Thus, the total process will last more than a month. Instead of waiting for us for two weeks, Perry Homes Ambassadors choose to wait for more than a month to put the company on more expenses. I really do not know if Perry Homes Shadow Creek Ranch Ambassadors” analytical skills are low, or Perry Homes Shadow Creek Ranch Ambassadors are trying to trick to rip us off. To your perspectives, which one should be the right answer?
Lastly, Perry Homes Shadow Creek Ranch Ambassadors told me that they sold the house to me so cheap and I should pay for the extension in order to keep the house. The price is an agreement between the two parties; and no one is forced to sign the contract.
I am glad that I know how Perry Homes Ambassadors serve their customers for the company’s profit before we actually buy their house. Due to this fraud, I will never ever buy a Perry Homes’ house. We will eventually get our deposit back; and we would like to share this issue with you for opinions.
Buyer Beware.
Read through if you're serious about buying from Perry homes. This is a long but honest review
We recently bought new home from this builder. Initially, everything was nice and all but after the closing, they started showing true colors. The low level staff is quick and friendly but they do not have much authority and they're kept on need to know basis. Middle level people are bureaucratic, rude, arrogant and stubborn aka unprofessional. Don't know about high level ones because they never interact with customers. Some senior manager called me once, he wanted to meet us to talk good things about perry homes but then he became so busy, he never bothered to reply our calls.
Within a week of buying, our problems started- poor plumbing, leaky roof, uneven floor. Everytime we call them, we get this super fast response "you need to buy this", "you need to do that" and most favorable reply is- "we don't do that, that's not the part of the warranty". As if we don't know how to read. Highschool drop outs teach engineers and doctors how to interpret warranty clauses. A week old house and this builder do not have a slightest desire to see a smile on their customer's face.
The reveiew dated 04/10/2011 is a fake one. Do not believe that.
We're not abel to enjoy our new home, we don't want you to feel the same that's why I'm spending so much time in this review.
Last words- if you really want to buy from this people- bargain to your last breath, do not believe a word of what they say, take everything in writing and do not sign. Better, involve lawyer at each step, get house professionally inspect and DO NOT use their lender, they're expensive and nosy.
We're in the process of suing this builder, as we speak, for not being able to provide factual information about the home and for several warranty issues.
Will try to update you with what happens next.
High Quality Home - after 20 years!. After reading some of the exception reviews (complaints) about Perry Homes, we felt compelled to comment. We bought a Perry Home 20 years ago in West Houston. They were high quality, and we watched (and personally inspected) the construction of the home as it was built. Then as now, after 20 years, we can say clearly - Perry Homes builds a high quality house, stands behind their sale, and you can believe in this builder. Those who have complaints either didn't do their part of the deal, or are covering up for their own problems. Perry is #1.
Perry Homes = Karl Rove. Please don't purchase a Perry Home unless you are an arch conservative. When you do, you line the pockets of zillionaire Bob Perry. Perry is one of, if not the leading financiers of right-wing political campaigns in the United States. He is the largest donor to Karl Rove's propaganda machine American Crossroads. He also financed the group Swift Boat Vets and POWs for Truth that spread vicious lies against John Kerry. He was also a major financial supporter of convicted felon Tom Delay. For more, check search on Bob. J. Perry in Wikipedia.
