Horrible service!!!!!!. I dined at Cabo for the first time this weekend with my sister. The waiter pretty much ignored us after we received our ridiculously terrible food. He kept passing by us and didn't ask us once if we were "ok". In fact, I had to wave at him to ask for the check. My sis and I were going to split the bill and he snapped at me and said "for future reference, tell the server that you want to split the bill at the begining- apparently, it's harder for them to do there. I told him that I had no idea, (never been there before) and offered to pay on one card. He then said that it was no problem but just wanted to let me know. Wtf? For future reference, I'll never go there again!! I can't believe we still tipped him. I mean, not only did he not deserve one, but we shouldn't have paid for that bland meal!!! Geez
Food Was Decent, Service was TEARRIBLE. I was out of town on business in a Tuesday, so I stopped by for dinner. I sat in the upstairs bar and planned a nice relaxing dinner. The bartender brought me a menue in a few minutes and I ordered a beer. The beer came 15 minutes later. I asked for a lime (three times) that never came. I asked for chips and salsa (4 times) and that never came. The bartender kept blaming it on everyone else but her. I did get my food in a relatively normal amount of time. Every time I needed a beer I had to wait 10-15 minutes to order and then to reciece it. There were 2 guys sitting at the bar next to me and they had the same problem. They finally brough me chips with no salsa. After the fourth request and I still didnt get it, I gave up. The guys next to me never got theirs either. First time i have spent an hour and a half in a mexican restaurant and couldnt get salsa and chips. I won'b be back.
Is there a scam going on over there?. About 8 years ago, I enjoyed this restaurant. Especially at lunch with my friends or happy hour. Within the past couple of years, this restaurant has gone downhill. Everywhere from the service to the confusion of charging credit cards 4 to 5 times the amount of the original purchase. The inexcusable attitude of their manager, John, only added to the extreme frustration. I admit the food is not particularly that great but used to enjoy the atmosphere. I would never recommed this restaurant to any of my friends and I certainly will let them all know my experience there. I'm taking my business elsewhere!
great afternoon experience. We spent a relaxing Saturday afternoon on the balcony. We were promptly seated and service was attentive and professional. We ordered the plaintains and maybe the best ceveche in Houston. The kitchen might have been a little slow, but the servers (Israel and Robert) were great. The margaritas were perfect.
Best nachos in Houston. CABOs is a cool place to hang out and they serve IMO the BEST nachos in Houston. I havent been in awhile due to the Houston BUM and HOBO problem. I cant make it in or out without some bum or hobo asking for money. Otherwise, once inside, CABOs is a pretty cool place. Good prices and food. Fun place. If Houston could get the bum situation under control (Not CABOs fault) I would go more often.
Editorial Review. Mixing traditional Mexican coastal cuisine with tropical island-flavors, Cabo draws in downtown professionals and partygoers.
Good Variety with a Twist of Mexico. Cabo's serves up a nice variety of seafood andor mexican inspired dishes, at very reasonable prices for the Downtown area. I love the shrimp quesadillas, which are both fresh and plump with seasoned shrimp. The grilled shrimp dinner with rice and fresh vegetables is also a top-notch winner with me here. The multi-level restaurant affords good views of downtown shoppers, while offering a nice variety of tex-mex dishes that are both fresh and affordable.
Don't Go There!. I signed up for this website just so I could warn people not to go to Cabo! Although the outdoor balcony is neat looking, the service and food were awful! It took forever to get waited on and the tortillas surrounding our fish tacos were cold and hard -- rigor mortis had set in -- and who knows what was inside the tacos! We were very disappointed b/c we remember the Cabo on Greenbriar as being terrific. We weren't the only unhappy people: they almost had a riot b/c the other customers were so frustrated. Save yourself...go some place (any place!) else! There are too many good restaurants in Houston to put up with this place!
Balcony service sucks!!!.
The balcony service at Cabos sucks! For the second time in a row in about a month's time, I have been to Cabo's downtown for dinner and a drink while waiting on my girlfriend to get out of college. Both times, it took at least 20 minutes to even place a drink order. Tonight I sat on the balcony for 50 minutes with only 1 offer for a drink.
I paid and went downstairs and told the so-called manager of my disappointment. He showed no remorse or concern as to my displeasure. No offer of a drink on the house or any such adjustment in regard to the bad service. I did tip the cook, Carlos, who worked really hard right in front of me. I got 2 tacos because I was starving. A perfect example of young management and I dont care about my job type service and attitude.
Always a cool place. I've been here off and on and I always have had fun. Its a neat little place and has a 2nd story balcony overlooking downtown streets. Its always a choice to go when we are looking for something to do. Only bad thing I will say is that the parking situation is kinda annoying. They were charging $10 to park next to the place or you could walk. Other then that, I would recommend the place.
