Citysearch Editorial Review. This comfortable neighborhood bar has more class than a dive and less affectation than a lounge, making it the perfect middle ground for after-work happy hours. Having moved from its former digs on Kirby, Mugsy's is still a traditional saloon, a believer of the classic cocktail (try their Bloody Mary) and a locale that primarily promotes conversation. A spacious front deck resides under the signature mustachioed top hat, vintage liquor ads line the back room where tables are draped in cloth with candle centerpieces and a cute back patio affords a view of the Hobbit's colored lights.

Great Place!. Mugsy's Bartender family JD, John, Lisa, Lynn & Randy always make you feel at home with fabulous service. Great Patios to enjoy a cold one or even a house wine.

Favorite bar. I am a die hard regular at Mugsys. I started hanging out here because it was a friendly casual place to chill with friends. I continue going here because it very quickly becomes the place where everyone knows you and you can be comfortable with a dozen friends or by yourself.

best river oaks bar. Great Hang Out! Miss that group that used to play jazz tues or wed though. service is outstanding.

Best bar EVER. After reading "Upscale, yet not's" review...I am going to agree with everything except for the last line. I have met several people there, and am now friends with them. It is a friendly crowd, for sure. Yes, there are people "in groups", and when I go there I am normally with 6+people and see several more people I know. I go to Mugsy's at least once a weekend...if I am in town. It is a great spot, the bar tenders are nice, remember your name and beers are $3.50...you should check it out for sure...even if you are a tourist!

Best place to have a cocktail and play games!. I love this place for all reasons: date night, happy hour, social scene, a chill out night playing games with friends, and any other reasons you can find. The bartender with the mustache makes a mean dirty martini and is a friendly as his bartending skills. Grab a friend and go to Mugsy's for entertainment of all types!

Best bar. Best bar in Houston. Gregg makes everyone feel at home. You are truly never a stranger here. The bartenders are also great at what they do, making great drinks and socializing with the "customers", I mean family.

Upscale, yet not. Mugsy's is an interesting place. It is a small bar near River Oaks. It attracts the upper class of the late 20somethings to early 30somethings. It is most always full of people who are in their "group" and socializing. The people are beautiful, the drinks are good, but go with your friends....don't look to meet new people here.

WOW!. Those bloody mary's are sooooooo awesome!! The atmosphere is really something to see--it feels 'homey' and warm and welcoming. I love the bathroom. The owner Greg is open, chats with everyone, and makes this place really, really special. Highly recommend!
