Filthy!. I have been to Kelvin Arms twice in my life and the final time was two weeks ago for happy hour. I am usually not a picky bar chooser but this place has to be the nastiest place I have been to in Houston. I showed up 30 minutes before my friends did around 3 pm on a Friday and I got to watch the place set up. It was a huge mistake on their part. I watched the bartender poor the first glass from each draft and in most occasions I saw this dirt color beer come out. Then I had a closer look and it was just nasty stuff in the cup. I hate to say that this place needs some money to get it back to its original state. I hope this bar gets a new owner that doesn’t spend most of its time drinking and smoking while ignoring the obvious signs.
Low-Key and Awesome. Awesome. Great place to chill without posers running around fist pumping. No whores with glitter and spray tan, just a really good place to drink and chill after work.
Class in a Bottle. I instantly fell in love with this place when I started going to it years ago. I was always disenchanted with bars because of how loud they get and how you miss out on the conversations with your friends that you couldn't have at other bars. This is a classy joint. Not only is it located in an old bank building, with a private lounge that was the old vault, but it also caters to the lovers of fine alcohol. It might only have 20 beers on tap, but it makes up for this with their top shelf alcohol collection. The place sports a patio for drinking on during the summer and a pretty chill bank vault lounge area. Like I said before, this place has class and people might be turned off by it because they can actually hear over the music, but I could care less. I am a patron of this establishment and proud of it!
this place is terrible. if you're looking for a fun time, don't go here. this place is always dead. the drinks are watered down. the staff is rude. you have to wait long periods of time to get drinks. last time i went there they charged me for drinks i never even had. i give this place maybe 2 months before it closes its door for good.
I love this place!. Every time I have a friend visit from out of town, I try and take them some place fun and unique to show them a good time. The Kelvin Arms is always on my list of places to stop by and relax.
Cool place.. This is a nice, casual place to hang out and have a few beers. They have a nice atmosphere, jukebox, pool, and darts. The only negative thing would be the service at the bar. The bartenders do not seem happy to serve..in fact, one guy was rude to me until I came back about an hour later and he was drunk! Then he served me happily while slurring his words.
Favorite bar in Houston. There are a lot of positive things to say about Kelvin Arms. The liquor selection is fantastic, and the bartenders know their stuff, especially Amanda the manager. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the crowd is very diverse - all kinds of people and all ages. I love their patio and the interior space/decor is great. It's very much like a friendly neighborhood Cheers bar with a much higher cool factor.
Great belgian beer selection.
Currently, I'd rather drink toilet water than try to enjoy this S^*&*hole and it's service.
*****I will say I'm impressed with the mammoth COCKROACHES they produce, must be from drinking their STALE, IMPROPERLY COOLED AND STORED draft beer. ******
Use caution when drinking here now, the place is falling apart and the owners don't care to fix anything.
I witnessed the ceiling collapse one night - on the bartender working. It was horrific and comical at the same time. Anyhow, FYI good beer right up the street at The Ginger Man, where you won't have to worry about prehistoric insects or collapsing walls.
My fave in every way!. I almost hate to give my fave a stellar rating because then it will be packed. However, there are so few places worth driving to in Houston and enduring hellish traffic that I have to give credit where credit is due. I'd love any place adorned with the visage of Sean Connery but it's more than my lust for 007 that keeps me coming back. People are friendly and interesting. Service is good even when it's packed and it's cozy. The converted bank vault is the coolest thing about the bar and fun to take out of town visitors to explore.
Love the coziness and privacy. very warm atmosphere, cozy velvet sofas and masculine dark soothing atmosphere. Great for an intimate conversation and a drink. Love to go there with a comfortable date and enjoy the sofas and quieter surroundings.
