In Short – While waiting for a table, hungry diners prowl the retail village, where cash-register ka-chings compete with chirping birds, roaring lions and chest-thumping gorillas. When the lights start to flicker, never fear--thunderstorms are part of the show. The menu is American comfort food--pastas, burgers, pizzas and salads--served with a tropical flair. There are plenty options that the kids will recognize, but enough novelty to keep the parents happy.

It'snot about the food

by ChloeCarter at Citysearch

This place could serve you cardboard and it would still be THE place to go with your kids. The attractions like the fish and monkeys will keep them so wide eyed and focused that I think it's a must if you are in town (with kids). The food is actually good too which was a surprise the first time I went to a Rain Forest Cafe in Katy years ago. The only bad part is that you really have to buy a souvenir when you are there and they are pricey.

  • Pros: the atmosphere
  • Cons: the wait

Lots of fun!

My boyfriend came from Seattle for a Labor Day weekend to Texas and I took him to Galveston. I have never been to Rainforest Cafe and knew we had to go. We got there early and were seated at a really sucky table without a view of the restaurant, but when asked to seat at a booth we were moved promptly. We got a great view and had fun watching all the kids be amazed by the elephant and such. The drinks were awesome, the food came in on time. It was OK, not great, I did not like it, to be honest, but my boyfriend did. The waitress, I forgot her name, was very nice and attentive. And even know I did not like the food, we had a lot of fun and were well taken care of, especially after a bad experience we had at Joe's Crab Shack the night before. It is pricey, but its not a place to just eat, it is more place to have fun while eating. And I can only imagine what their monthly electric and water bills look like. It was fun, and the store is really cute :) If you are going on vacation and you, or your guests had never been, I would recommend it :)

Fun Atmosphere and delicous food

by mariposa77 at Citysearch

I took my niece and nephew there for dinner with my husband. We had a great time looking around the restaurant. There was a wait to be seated, but we were entertained with the outside games and juggler. They also have a Build A Bear workshop located in the restaurant. The food was really good! I ordered the ribs, and they fell off the bone. They had a great kids menu that kids were happy with, and their lettuce wraps were awesome! The best part was the volcano dessert! If you go be sure to try that!

Great family experience, good service and tasty food! Can't wait to return.
