GREAT GREAT PLACE. I always look for healthy places to eat. I really love El Rey. Their food is without preservatives and the coffee is fair trade. I really appreciate that everything is fresh. The orange juice is amazing. Their key lime pie is delicious...my favourite, hands down! It is better than the key lime pie I have found during my many trips to Florida. The staff is always friendly and service is quick. Also, in all locations I have visited, the restaurant is always clean. I usually eat here twice a week and will continue to do so.

Honestly,

Me

Consistent, high quality. I've introduced dozens of people to the joys of El Rey. It's not TexMex, it's Cuban+Mex. By far the best tortilla soup in Houston, great ceviche, grilled chicken salad with cilantro dressing, ropa viejo -- and devine rotisserie chicken with black beans, rice and plantins.

If you are looking for atmosphere, this isn't the place. If you want great, fast and different food, you can't do better.

And be sure to top the meal off with their Cuban espresso!

Editorial Review. Traditional Mexican and Cuban-inspired tacos accompany tortilla soup, burritos and Cuban sandwiches at this informal counter service restaurant.
