Had to pay for hair in food. I've been a regular customer for a couple of years because of its convenient location. During my last visit, I found a long black hair in my spring roll. I brought this to my server's attention and canceled the remainder of my lunch. To my surprise, I was forced to pay for the portion of the spring rolls that had been eaten. Seriously?
Sweet and sour dinner...mostly sour,.... We have been regular customers for years. We usually ordered the pho. My wife ordered the sweet and sour chicken. It was terrible. We complained to the owners, and we got yen yang chin chang,,,,The owner argued about a refund for the uneatable garbage. They said that they "could not afford to wave the charge for the food". I had to argue my point and refused to pay..I will never return , and i would urge the same to everyone who reads this...Just stupid...To loose a regular customer for less than $ 7.00, is just stupid !!!!! Greed.and poor judgment.
Hot soup and convenient access to the Johnson Space Center make this bustling noodle house ideal for friends and pho..
In Short
A wall mural showing the space shuttle high above the earth and celebrity photos of astronauts remind diners that there's something unique about this Vietnamese noodle house. Crowded with NASA workers at lunchtime and with neighborhood folks at dinner, this casual table-service restaurant is clearly a local favorite. Favorite dishes include deep spicy bowls of soup, spring rolls and Vietnamese burritos (spring rolls with cooked meats). Try unique fruit juices (like lychee) to cool your palate between bits of soup.
Vietnamese Gem.
We tried Pho Hoang late one Thursday evening, while looking for a spot to rescue us from the task of having to go home and cook for ourselves. Plus, we wanted something new and different. Pho Hoang delivered. It's a small place, with simple yet tasteful decor inside, complete with a huge mural of the Endeavor Space Shuttle on one wall. The soups on the menu are incredibly delicious, and although I am not well-versed on Vietnamese dishes as of yet, the dinner I chose was wonderful. I tried the Bit Nuong Tuong (or something like that), which came with vermicelli noodles, freshly grilled slices of pork, and fresh sliced cucumber and carrots. They also serve some type of sauce to pour over your noodles, which I believe is a tamarind fruit sauce; very simple and subtle.
When you are up for trying something different, or if you are already familiar with Vietnamese cuisine, then give Pho Hoang a try. We really enjoyed it. The waiters were very friendly and helpful with menu selections as well.
