Rude manager and bartender. This place is not essencially a bar that you may imagine, some table games and darts. The reviews say it's a great place for newcomers with excellent staff. We went there with friends. The manager and bartender were forcing us to buy a drink or leave the place. It was so wired for us. After that we chose a drink, the manager said they don't have that drink and we have to choose another one or leave the place! We got curious and asked him why he is giving us such a hard time, he said they had couple of issues that night. Such a Crap, rediculous. I have never seen such an awful bar. I think the Watson on Hwy 6 or the Bar Next Door on Memorial (close to Eldridge) are much better.

I don't know in a hospitality based business such a rude behavior how can be justified???

Just stay away from this place, I think the good reviews may be fake based on my experience.

GREAT Tavern for regulars and newcomers!!. The Derrick is a superb place for that after work cold beer. The staff is EXCELLENT and friendly. As a newcomer to Houston I felt right at home and soon became a regular. Make sure to try out the Steaks on Tuesday's. Houstons best and biggest steak at the best price you will find, the atmosphere is oilfield professional with attractive and engaging people. Overall BEST place I've have found in Houston.

West Houston's Best Tavern. The Derrick Tavern is THE best place to go on the West side of Houston. Period. Has such a great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Can't beat the steaks they serve on Tuesday's for steak night and love going with my gal's on Thursday's for Ladies Night. Can't beat the drink specials and we always have such a good time! We've seen some pretty awesome live music acts there too on Saturday's. Anyone and everyone living or visiting Houston should definitely stop in and see for themselves. A good time is to be had by all - FOR SURE! Keep up the good work DT!

Watch out for "Slow Bartender".. This place is in a great location for Happy Hour. I have been a few times. The cold beer is flowing just as long as this one Bartender named Ryan something or another like that. He gets distracted and talks to random folks for long periods of time while people wait for drinks or beers.

I have been a few times when the music / jukebox is turned off and there is a soccer match showing with the sound on. Talk about a downer after work during happy hour.

I would give this place 5 stars if were not for that one bartender that has ruined happy hour.

Great Place, Cozy Atmoshphere. The Beer is cold, the music is great, they have bands on Saturdays, cozy atmosphere, great ambience, friendly staff, good looking crowd, good happy hour, and also a great place to take a date and be able to talk.

Terrible service. Must be a locals only kind of place.. Service sucked. Sat at the bar for 5 minutes and watched the bartender "entertain ". I asked the waitress what the seceret was to get a beer. She had to get another bartender to serve me. Even went back for a second try. The service still stunk. Played pool for about an hour and had to go to the bar for every beer. Waitress never gave us a second look. Had plenty of time for the people she was obviously familiar with.

Excellent after work and late night bar. Very comfortable atmosphere. Great jukebox! Very quick and friendly barstaff. New Year's Eve is great here also. Very good looking people and a variety of ages. The only drawback is location although it is close to my home and sometimes the smoke can get a little bad but management is very accomodating when it comes to opening the doors to ventilate. Overall a great place to hang out without massive crowds. Just the right amount of people so that you converse and move around.

Pretty Good. This is one of those places you never see coming. Pretty good happy hour crowd, but lots of good looking young people also. On a Monday night is was almost full with a good mix of guys and girls. Look for Ryan and Megan, the bartenders they are the best and quickest!!!
