Friendly and Welcoming. My Boyfriend and I went to Rouge for the first time. Just driving by we decided to stop in and give it a try. When we walked in the door we were greeted with smiling faces, and they made us feel important. The staff helped us pick out a great wine that paired perfect with out entree. Although the Rouge is a fine dining restaurant it really has a way of making you feel welcome and that your dining with people that really want you to have a great experience.
An Evening to Remember. My Fiance and I went to Rouge for Valentines Day Dinner - what a wonderful experience. The ambience was so romantic, the chandeliered ballroom is breathtaking! The Servers were very professional and with the large number of guests there, I was surprized that they were so attentive. Our meal was absolutely delicious - the steak just melted in my mouth. I will definately look forward to dining there again!
Valentines Romantic. Our friends told us about this place and we made our reservations for Valentines day. When we arrived it was busy as all good restaurants are on Valentines but we were treated great from the moment we walked in. Everyone there was making us feel welcome and even though we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation, our table was not crowded and the service was great. The lobster and steak we had was great and the cheesecake was the best ever. Even on an insane night like Valentines the staff there took the time to make us feel special and not just another number on the night. We are going back.
Terrible Valentines Dinner. I am usually not the person to make a big deal of a bad experience, but last night (Valentines) was absolutely horrible. I have been biting my lip since we were seated as I didn?t want to upset my date on Valentine?s day. However it is over now and I would like to inform everyone of our experience last night. We had a reservation which went smooth and we were seated within 15 minutes. Once we were seated it was quite some time before we started to receive our meals. The appetizer was good as well as the salad, but the main course was terrible. I had the steak and lobster and my date had the salmon. Both of our meals were not hot rather warm. I had to ask for melted butter for the lobster, but never received it and by the time I had given up waiting for it the lobster was cold, rubbery and uneatable. I mentioned it to my date and she then informed me that her meal was cold too. Not wanting to upset our evening, acknowledge that we weren?t having a good time, and also needing to be somewhere else we asked the waiter for our desserts to go. We never received those either. At this point, we noticed another couple next to us become upset that their meals too were cold. They actually walked over and told the hostess about it, but I guess it was not resolved so they walked out. We paid the bill, but was only able to eat half of our meals due to the poor service and lack of prep on our food. I believe for the price we spent we would have received much better service.
Best Yet.
My wife and I had dinner at Rouge last Saturday night and it was great. The ambiance was romantic, the food was outstanding and the presentation made my wife giggle with excitement. The manager helped us pick a bottle of wine. He seem to know my price point and recommended a boutique wine that was way better than what I would have picked. Our server knew the menu and helped us pick a great appetizer and main course.
I have already made reservations for Valentines Day.
Big Points. I got big Points from my wife for taking her to Rouge last Saturday night. It was our anniversary and a coworker told me to go to Rouge for a very romantic dinner. My wife began smiling the minute we walked through the door. The food was not only beautiful but delicious. My steak was the best I have had in a long time, and my wife?s seabass fantastic. Try the bread pudding. We are not waiting for another anniversary before we go back.
Made me look good. I had a small holiday party for my employees last week and everything was perfect. We were told we were being served in their new Tuscany room. It was a gorgeous room totally private with great decorations and the service was great. We were not rushed as we finished a fantastic meal and just sat around visiting. I entertain for buisness frequently and can say the steaks were the best I have had in Houston. The homemade desserts were awesome and the wine selection was perfect for the meal and our budget. Didn?t find out who the owner was but I really want to thank them as my employees were raving about our dinner and still thanking me for the party. I will be taking my clients here now as well as Houstons other landmark restaurants.
Slow but good. I'm more than a little suspicious of all these "great" reviews. Concerned that the owner may be adding his/her own enhancements. Notice after every mediocre to poor review -- there are several just glowing reviews and the writing styles all sound similar. I have been there on several occasions and have never arrived to a "packed" dining room. It's okay, not great by any means. We go because we can get in on a weekend without a wait ... they really push their banquet room more than fine dining.
Great Service, Great Food. My wife and I chose this restaurant based on the reviews that we read. Those reviews turned out to be right on the mark. The service was great, with the waiter offering great recommendations on wine and specialities of the house. The host and I am assuming also the owner, made us feel very welcome at the and made us feel like we were regulars there. The atmosphere is romantic and decour very tastefully done. The main seating area is not very big, maybe 15 - 20 tables but the one thing we couldn't figure out was why it was empty on a Sat night. Only 2 or 3 other tables occupied during the 3 hours we were there. That being said, I highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be back.
Loved It. My husband and I went to Rouge for his birthday last Saturday night. From the service to the wine they helped us pick it was great. The service was really first class and they made us feel so special. The manager was at every table talking and making the whole room feel like friends. Even though it was our first time, he made us feel like we had been coming there for ever. Our waiter Robert, was excellent and helped us with the menu, everything looked so good. I will be going back every chance I get.
