Best patio in town. Great craft beer
selection and frozen mimosas to boot. Food is hit or miss, but decent. Go for the atmosphere.

my favorite patio.
The OC has a great, shaded patio. It's the perfect place to get together with a big group on a Sunday afternoon (especially during crawfish season).
Inside it's cozy, and I often meet my lady friends here to catch up during the week. Coffee is great!

Onion Creek Coffee House.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in the Heights... and even more so lately, with it not being 1000 degrees outside so you can sit on the patio. My favorite things to get are the turkey and chicken salad sandwiches and the side salad with creamy cilantro dressing. My friend and I went for lunch the other day and he ordered the Mediterranean appetizer with artichoke hummus, which was amazing. One thing I don't like, though, is the potato salad. Wayyy too much mayo and way too little potato. There is a good selection of beers on tap and good drink specials as well... and the bartenders are friendly and helpful. Parking can be tough at times, but worst case you park down the street and enjoy a stroll along White Oak.

great location but bad service.
It's a good place to hang out with friends but the service there is just blah. Walking up to the bar was just as fast to get our drinks.b

Refuge for Area Austinites and Eclectic Houstonians alike.
Onion Creek lives up to its reputation for being a slice of Austin in the heart of Houston from the racks of expensive bicycles piled out back to the small Saturday morning farmer’s market that takes over the parking lot. One of the few places you will find people actually walking to from their homes in Houston, this is a true neighborhood gem.
Folks tend to gather in groups and mingle on into the night so finding a table later in the evening can be a challenge, particularly when the weather is nice and the patio is booming. Waiting 45 minutes for your burger is commonplace but everyone is having such a great time that no one minds. Orders are placed up at the bar but servers bring food to your table based on the number placard system that has become the pub-grub staple. Even in the most immense of hungry crowds, staff remains friendly and tries to be as attentive as possible. It is truly admirable.
On various visits to Onion Creek that usually involve ordering a properly made black and tan, I have fallen back on the OC Burger. Layered with chipotle mayo and avocado, it is sure to bring joy to any mouth and has not failed me yet. I’ve also tasted friends’ bacon and bleu burger, a few nibbles of pizza and even sampled the ever-popular Sunday steak night without hint of disappointment.
Even if you have never been to Austin and haven’t ridden a bicycle in decades, do not fret. Onion Creek is friendly in every facet of its experience.

Food order was an hour late, to which the counter guy replied: 'sorry, here's your money"

Cafe with an Austin feel.
Low-key Sunday afternoon. The service was very good, food served promptly. There is nothing imaginative or exciting on the menu, just burgers and smallish salads. It's just a place to hang out, have a bit to eat, pretend you're in a beautiful city where people really love to dine outdoors, instead of in a former gas station at a corner intersection.
