“Good food with a very laid back atmosphere.”
“Not only do they take their drinks seriously, but when the daylight in streaming in through the big windows, you feel like you've found a happy place!”
“Go to tailgate if you want a great burger.”
“Great atmosphere, great beer selection.”
“This is a great place to hang out if youre just in the mood to relax and unwind with out ne hype.”
“The food our friends received looked good as were the drinks but the service appears very poor at the present time.”
“Onion Creek lives up to its reputation for being a slice of Austin in the heart of Houston from the racks of expensive bicycles piled out back to the small Saturday morning farmer's market that takes over the parking lot.”
“Disinterested and unattentive staff that loses your order and gets the reorder wrong after a 45 minute wait is unacceptable.”

The first of the family of Creek restaurants. Great patio, full bar, craft beer, great neighborhood vibe and for my money the best Chai Latte in town

The food at this funky bar is surprisingly good. And there's always a drink special to take advantage of.
Local and Good!!.
Lots of beer, wine and good folks.
Food is excellent, FOR BAR FOOD.
Don't expect too much or you might be disappointed!!!
Coffee is OK..........I'm not a fan of Katz's Coffee(espresso)........
Ambiance is definitely cozy but usually a little crowded in the evenings.
Try Cedar Creek and Dry Creek, if you want good food.
OC is better for the light drinking evening crowd.........and a good lunch.
Theres better coffee just around the corner @ Antidote.
The staff is great.........ALL OF YOU ROCK!!!!
Hamburgers Their Way. My boyfriend ordered a burger and requested it be cooked medium, you know, with a little pink inside for color and juicy-ness. Our order taker stated that all burgers are cooked well done. Period. End of story. So my boyfriend ordered it their way and just as I had anticipated, the burger wasn't all that satisfying. He left much of it on his plate. I ordered the mixed green salad with goat cheese and strawberry viniagrette, which was just fine but I wouldn't come here again JUST for salad. Unless you like your hamburgers well done, this isn't the place to order one. I doubt we'll come back to this spot for lunch but maybe we'll give breakfast a try.
Probably the best coffeehouse and pub combo in Houston, the burger has avocado, and their rich and creamy potato salad is like no other!. I know the Houston Press gave them best coffee shop in Houston in a previous year, and there's a reason for that. Not only do they take their drinks seriously, but when the daylight in streaming in through the big windows, you feel like you've found a happy place! Their iced toddy brew is on the level of the iced coffee at Taft St, and that's saying a lot. I don't think you've ever had potato salad like theirs before--the potatoes are sliced super thin and it may just be too rich and creamy for you, but that's why I like it! Avocado on the burger: check. And inside or out, it's a great place to have a Guinness or Winter Stout or Shiner with friends.
Great Atmosphere Terrible Service.
Our first visit was with another local Heights couple on a beautiful Friday evening. Onion Creek was obviously a popular spot. The parking lot was full as were most of the tables.. The bar area inside had three lines of ten or so people each waiting to place orders. The atmosphere was chaotic but with a certain casual ambiance that was appealing. The couch are inside was deserted in favor of the much more popular outdoor deck.
After placing our orders for sandwiches and burgers we sat outside at one of the few free tables left. We waited. After half an hour the other couple's sandwiches arrived. We waited some more. Eventually we checked with the bartenders who also take the food orders inside (there is no waitstaff). We were reassured our burgers would be out in about ten more minutes (We could hear screaming in the kitchen where a fight had broken out between two employees and the manager had to leave to break it up). After another twnety minutes I appraoched the bartenders again with my receipt in hand. I was told they had no record of ever having placed the order. The other couple with us who suggested the establishment were very embarressed in spite of the situation not being their fault. The bartender became rude and began pointing to the front of a menu on which was written a disclaimer regarding service/orders. After an hour's wait and no acceptance or responsibility for the lost order or offer of an apology from the manager (returned from breaking up the kitchen fight) we (thanks to the receipt!) got our money back in cash (minus the 20% tip I had paid by credit card when initially paying). I didn't care at that point. We were just happy to leave and get dinner somewhere else. I wouild recommend this place as a terrific venue for drinks and casual evenings outside on the deck when the weather's good. The food our friends received looked good as were the drinks but the service appears very poor at the present time. I hope that the service improves.
Nice place for a drink, the staff are okay. Its a good place to sit and have a drink with a friend. They have an outside patio where you can enjoy the weather. The staff there are not so nice but they do their jobs. I didnt go looking for someone to make me feel good so it didnt matter. The music was kind of loud inside but it was alright for me.
Arguably the worst staff of all time.... I totally agree that this probably was, at one time, a great little place. Great atmosphere, great beer selection. The staff is absolutely aweful. The short short blonde with the pony tail is the worst. She seems to hate people in general. The guys seemed to be the best, but certainly not overly friendly or fast for that matter. I believe every one and every thing deserves a chance--this places loses. I saw previous posts about the rude staff and that the food was pretty good. I totally disagree. Working in the business, I still gave them 25% tip but it was the one time it truly pained me. They even told me that they cook the burgers down the street somewhere (well done no less) and were brought over in batches (so much for fresh ehh?) Go to tailgate if you want a great burger. Actually go anywhere, don't reward these people or that behavior. Hopefully management will recognize (and care) and try to remedy the situation. It really really does have a great atmosphere--again I just hate to reward these people (or their management) for allowing that mess. FYI-Bartending is a SERVICE BUSINESS!
One Word - Yum!. The tuna salad is a must try! I crave this place! It has a nice patio and is great to sit out on a beautiful day and have a great lunch or early dinner!
I would have given more stars if their staff was nicer. Again, it's always the staff. Fun place. But I think the disinterest trickles down from the top. There is no waitstaff, just bartenders. They have no table service, so how much incentive is there to make the clients happy? If they just paid for a few friendly people (where did April go? She was a wonderful steak girl!) to service the tables instead of standing behind the bar, while you wait/stand/jockey for position with others 5 bodies deep to get a drink, they'd sell a heck of a lot more beer. Waiting for the food is a female dog and yes, they don't always get the order right. The bartenders (the ones that have been there the longest) are the rudest. I don't think I've ever seen them smile. They act like they hate working there. I think they shouldn't.
Great hangout. This place reminds me most of Austin. I went to college at UT and sometimes miss the atmosphere that Austin had. This place has steak night on Wednesdays and signs for Austin everywhere. Definately one you need to try at least once.
One of a kind!. Definitley one of a kind in Houston. Its more of a pub than a coffee shop to me. Great outdoor beer garden and cruisy / cosy indoor area. Never too loud so can always chill out with friends or whatever on any afternoon /or evening. Food is great and a decent range of drinks as well. No table service, but that is not a bad thing, even though the bar has spurts of being croweded for ordering. Parking is fine, just may need to walk 100ft so no big deal (I ride my bike or walk). Couple of TV's play the games, but realy just for background. Tis not a sports bar and does not want to be. Only downside is clearing of empties and plates of your table can sometimes take a while, so don't be too precious about that. Great Place
