Okay, I've been to plenty of Mexican
Diners, like most Texans. This one's pretty good. The chips were thick and hearty. They didn't break apart when you dipped them into the homemade salsa. The waitress was very friendly, attentive, and gave us a discount for it being my sister's fourth 29th birthday. The gentleman waiting on us was also very friendly. I loved their tea. Can't beat a good ol' glass of Luzianne, and it even tasted good in a red plastic cup which is usually a thumbs down for me. But the cups weren't gigantic, so that was okay.
My brother had fajitas, he ate everything on his plate. I tried some of his ranchero beans, and although they weren't MY cup of tea, he liked them. I thought them a tad greasy tasting but that's just me, I don't eat meat so it may have been the fact where were huge chunks of bacon in the beans.
My sister had a meal that she loved. She fawned over everything on her plate. I had nachos and they were good. Not the best I have had, but still very good.
There was nothing about this meal that was unsatisfactory. The kitschy building and decorations, airy and upbeat waiters makes this place fun.
It's an old building, okay. The bathroom was very clean but old - that doesn't bother me but some of you out there might misinterpret old as "dirty". It definitely wasn't. Dudes have to go outside for their bathroom needs.
There's lots of funny signage around. The walls are plastered with signage, in fact.
Nothing political, thankfully.
Well, we really enjoyed ourselves. It's cheap, good, fresh food. What more can you ask for?
SAVE THE GAS!. We have tried Bob's 3 times. We first tried it after it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network. We have been disappointed all 3 times. We went for breakfast yesterday. We had to wait for over 30 minutes just to get breakfast tacos. Okay, gang, this is not rocket science. Not only do you have to wait a ridiculous amount of time, but if you want chips and dips to tide you over, you have to pay for them. You would think that if they are going to make you wait that long, they could at least give you the chips and dip. The food is okay, not out of this world delicious. If you don't actually live in Rosenberg and you don't want to wait for an extended period for your food, SAVE THE GAS! We won't be back!
Had better elsewhere.... My sister and I ate at Bob's 3/17/12. We both order the Tex-Mex plate. The tamale & taco were great, however the rest was just ok. Surpised were we charged $1.99 for chips & hot sauce! The sauce was so bland there was no flavor at all. Will not go back. Service VERY slow!
Not as good as I thought. I was anxious to try the food since I seen it on the food network, only to be disappointed. The food had no flavor and was bland. The salsa tasted like water. I got tacos and tamales. The tamales were about the best thing and they were okay. Nothing to write home about. I dont think I will be visiting here again.
Bob's Taco Station.
I visited Bob's taco Station on July 16th 2010 for the last time. I took my dad there as he loves crispy taco's. We were both so disappointed.
The waitress could not keep the orders straight. She brought my dad's beef crispy taco's; more beans and rice than anything else. The first time the taco's were filled with lettuce and tomatoes only. The waitress took the order back to the kitchen and returned with two crispy beef taco's that had no flavor. The guacamole taco that I ordered had no flavor. The salsa was very bland. We asked for refills on iced tea and the waitress picked up three glasses, took them to refill, not having a clue which glass belonged to which person.
My two friends ordered the same time as I and there food arrived after we had finished. The restaurant was not full of diners.
I cannot figure why the Food Network Show "Diners Drive Inns, and Dives" was so taken by this poor quality restaurant. The next time I want Quality Mexican food I will go to Las Cosana's in Richmond.
Rosen-Where?.
Rosenberg, TX: Wow. Not a lot out here. You’ve got it’s sister-city, Richmond, which is fairly well-known, but nothing else really jumps out at you. Unless, you’ve found Bob’s Taco Station. This place is almost considered a tourist attraction. That’s when Food Network Star, Chef Guy Fieri came down to scope it out on his show, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. That in itself exponentially increased the buzz around the metropolitan are.
Now, I’m a morning person. More often than not, morning people are breakfast people. I think that Bob’s does it better than anyone else. How? Customizable breakfast tacos on home-made tortillas. (It’s not any wonder why I’ve dated so many Hispanic women with the hopes that they know how to cook.) Get it any way you want it. And please do not forget the house red sauce. It’s to die for.
Bob’s does have a menu which boasts more than breakfast tacos, but if I’m not there for the tacos, I will be eagerly awaiting their Puerto (pork) Tamales. I have never inserted a better phallic-shaped object in my mouth. (I promise. Do not like men.) These are made fresh in-store and the meat they use is slow-cooked and falls apart in your mouth. Now, tamales are made with two simple ingredients inside the corn husk. The corn-formulated outside, called Maize, and the actual meat which dubs the kind of tamale. Most tamale places put copious amounts of Maize with a dollop of meat. Not here. Quite the opposite. These things will change your life.
The establishment is very proud of their humble beginnings and will not change their design due to having national merit and popularity. They will not take down any of their garage sale décor or represent any other high schools who are not local (they have school banners strewn about the dining room and are very proud of the inner-district rivalries). Their commitment to their integrity and their community is incredible and something that I wish a multitude of businesses would embrace. It is truly and awe-inspiring thing. I really respect this private business for everything which it upholds. Hats off.
Bob’s Taco Station - Change nothing. Gain everything. You’ve placed Rosenberg, TX on the map. Kudos. - n@.
yummmy. Gteat place to take ANYONE that is someone.great food, service smiles, prices too. They have home made tortillias, just like you would have at home. Every thing is HOT & fresh. This place is good for Any occasion.I recommend this place to EVERYONE!!!!
Awesome breakfast!. Bob's is a great Richmond area place to go for a breakfast change of pace. They have a lot of classic Mexican breakfasts, but they also have the average American pancakes and the like. All are delicious. The rest of their food is really good too, but I love their breakfast the most. Their salsa is absolutely delicious! Like all Tex-Mex, the food isn't the healthiest around, but with careful selection you can get a relatively healthy meal that's always made with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is extremely laidback and the locals are always friendly. There are always a wide range of people in here and you always leave full, full, full!
