CitySearch Editorial Review. Between the chewy tapioca balls and its tendency to attract large groups of friends, bubble tea is a recreational activity more than it is a drink. At Teahouse’s River Oaks location, crowds sprawl out on couches in the welcoming space decked out with fish tanks, board games and computers to socialize and study while sipping frosty beverages. The drinks range from tart options like kiwi ice blend to traditional flavors like jasmine green tea and come with or without the tapioca and a number of other “sinkers,” including jellies and puddings.
MY FAVORITE TAPIOCA PLACE IN HOUSTON. I love this place. I was in Houston for about 2 months and I went to Teahouse every other day and sometimes a whole week straight! I might be exaggerating but there are probably over 100 flavors, but even with the great amount of flavors, they are all very delicious. The atmosphere is great..probably not recommended for those who want to study though. It's a very loungey atmosphere with cool chairs and even saltwater fish tanks. When I left Houston, I made sure that I picked up a drink from Teahouse, because back at home they don't make it like Teahouse does. I know that the next time I visit Houston, the first place I'll visit is Teahouse!
Addicting in a good way. My friend told me about this place two years ago, but the thought of tapioca was not so inviting at the time. After experiencing tapioca "pearls" on a vacation in California, I decided to try "Teahouse" out. I am beyond addicted. I have tried several places. None compare to Teahouse. The high quality of my drinks never waver. My only complaint is that the traffic to and from the Westheimer location is a light bummer, but it still doesn't stop me from driving there, no matter how hot it gets in Houston. I wish they would open a location in the Rice Village. Then I would probably be there every single day.
Absolute Favorite for a Picky Consumer. I've been going to Teahouse for a couple of years now and it is a must-have. Whether stopping in to grab a drink on the go, staying to hang out with friends, or working on a laptop, Teahouse is a great place. It has free Wi-fi, three computers for customers without their own to use, lots of seating (which is good since it can get filled up at times), awesome fish tanks for ambience, and the best drinks around. I think what initially sold me on the place was that the first time I went in, I ordered a drink to try something new and I didn't like it. They replaced it with a different drink, which I liked much better, for free. It takes away the fear of trying something new and paying for something you won't drink. Great customer service! Also, if you are lactose intolerant (like so many people are) don't be afraid to try the cream teas...they're delicious and the ingredients they use are lactose free! There really is something for everyone.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Staff. Unique beverage shop serving teas, shakes, slurpies and juices.
Good place to hang out / study. I remember I used to frequent Teahouse for some bubble tea and for a chill place to hang out. Now, with the new back room and new furniture, this place has become a lively place for socializing and for studying. The drinks can have substitutions with sugar alternatives, which is great because bubble tea is highly caloric. If you need peace and quiet to get any work done, this place is probably not for you. Sometimes it's packed with loud grade school students (ranging from elementary school through high school) and with loud card or Jenga players. However, I love the seating in the back ... the red chairs are perfect for sitting and studying for hours. Free wireless internet is a plus.
The perfect place for students!. Teahouse is very well located in Houston, close to Univ of Houston and Galleria and minutes away from St. Thomas, and HCC. It's the perfect place for students bc they have free wi-fi and cheap and delicious drinks. For those who will be intensely studying, bring headphones with you bc it can get loud. Their staff's always very friendly and efficient. My favorite place to study and to get the best tea drink in Houston - #16!
Slurpies & Games. I really like this place. They sell a variety of teas, slurpies, and other stuff. They have internet access for customers and many board games and tons of magazines. It's a great place to drink a green apple slurpie and play scramble.
