Tips for Preferred Pools

September 08, 2012

For the love of God, don't do it! I understand they may be okay for installation, but my experience for repair and maintenance has been a four-month nightmare. You would be better served setting your money on fire, then dumping the ashes in your pool.I was told the problem could be fixed for $600 and the pool would be maintained for $150 a month. Well, $1300 later, it is, and has been, a swamp. It was only blue for a few days after is was drained and refilled and has been unusable ever since. Despite numerous calls and dozens of broken promises, they won't even respond to us about refunding our money. We've been given every excuse about being short-handed, having employees quit, and most recently was told that they are too busy and our pool is too difficult to maintain, so they won't be back. What!?!?!? That was just after Labor Day and they had already been paid for the month of September. The reason it is hard to maintain is that they didn't repair it right in the first place! We have never been approached about needing additional repairs and we would gladly pay for them if they would just show up and do what they said they would do.

Granted, I sound extremely upset...because I am, but I have never been rude or pushy with them. I'm not generally a malcontent, by any means, and would normally never take to the internet to slam somebody. But in the case, I thought I would feel guilty if I didn't do something to help prevent other people from being burned like this.

Had our pool installed 9 yrs. ago. Getting ready to move and had a home inspection. The pool electrician piggybacked 2 circuits instead of adding a new box. We could have had an electrical fire and insurance would not have covered it. It is costing me $300 to have the problem fixed.

Not completely satisfied. Getting a pool built right now. Everything has been started late. Work has been sloppy. David has made numerous promises about how he would be here everyday watching over his contractors, how he would fix this or call me when he can figure this out, but nine of that has happened. They are building a decent pool. But I do not like the fact I am being told to expect one thing and something completely different happens. When you spend this kind of money you expect certain results, and so far, it's not where it needs to be. Also, they cut my gas line, buried it without telling David, when I told him.. He said he'd come look at it and relight my pilot light for me.. And over 15 hours later.. He still hasn't showed up.

Couldn't be more pleased. I've read a couple of poor reviews on David Russell's pool company and it makes me think he must have done business with two completely unreasonable people. David built our pool some EIGHT years ago, started on time, finished on time, even came back up to five years later to fix something for me and didn't even charge me for it! He was professional, efficient, built a beautiful pool and I would recommend him to my mother!

Remember when you read on-line reviews, there's always one or two in the crowd that no one could have pleased. I highly recommend this pool company and it's owner David Russell. You can't go wrong.

Worst customer service I ever experienced.. I hired this company to dig a back yard pool, and they started digging on April 29, 2008. The owner, David Russell stated that pool could be totally complete by the end of May. It wasn't. As June 26, 2008, I am still waiting for them to install the ozone clorination on my pool. They installed the wrong part. They left my yard a mess and had to be asked to remove their trash. I paid cash, and it seems that after David received his last payment, he couldn't care less about customer service. On the day that I was supposed to be shown how to use my pool, Steve, an employee of Preferred Pool, showed up and could show me because the waterfall had not been connected, the water line for the waterfall leaked and spewed mud, the pool cleaner had not been connected, one water pipe was sticking out of the side of the pool and was clearly a harzard, the air blower was not hooked up, the gas line not connected, and so on. Steve called people to take care of the problem, and then stated he would be back to instruct me on the pool. Steve never came again. I had to keep calling them to find out what the next step was, because information was not free flowing from the company, and they were downright rude. In fact, when I last spoke to the owner, David, on 6/14/08, he was very upset with me regarding my complaints about the pool not being ready for a check when Steve came by to show me how to use and take of my pool (this was on 6/13/08) and about me allegedly stating that Steve had promised me that the pool would be ready by 6/12 (I did not say this) so Steve very rudely stated that "we showed you how to use your ppool, what more do you want!" when no one had showed me how to use the pool at that point. To sum it up, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, unless they want to deal with a company that half does their job, and treats thier customers with indignity and disrespect.

Ran into some difficulties - but made it right in the end.. I had some difficulties and miscommunications during construction, but in the end, the owner David Russell made everything right, and I ended up with a great pool. Two years later, I called to get a piece of equipment serviced, and they fixed it, no questions asked.
