Very Poor Customer Service. Uncle Bob's Self Storage is currently running the storage faclity after the previous owners sold out... to my detriment. I had moved in my ex's stuff into storage with the agreement that I would pay 3 months in advanced at which time the account would run out and I would not be liable for any additional monetary amount. I travel a lot and I asked specifically not to be contacted again since I can't deal with anything that may come up when I am out of the country.

So, I get a phone call today from a woman working there at Bob's Storage. I told the company to go ahead and confiscate the storage space back and that I had an agreement. She told me that I had to come by and sign a move out form, otherwise I they would have to put something on my credit score.

I drove to Uncle Bob's stoarge and talked to the woman behind the counter and told her I had an agreement with the previous owners that I would only be responsible for three months pay ahead of time. She told me that unless the agreement was in writing that she would not honor any "verbal contracts" or "gentlemen's agreements" and to basically cough up some money. She was very rude to me, both in person and on the phone. I'm pretty sure I would have gone ahead and paid the money and closed out the storage space if she had been a little nicer about everything.

I ended up driving off and not paying her any of the money she wanted, but I suspect I'm going to have to eat crow and go back so as to not ruin my credit score. I'm seriously thinking of getting a lawyer involved and making this as difficult as possible on them. The amount is only $30, but I feel strongly about the principle of the whole thing.

Traditional, humidity- and climate-controlled outdoor and indoor storage spaces (call specific location to verify) also are provided. The property is also protected by security cameras.

Customer service comes up short. Well, no one has broken into my storage space, so I guess that's good. And the location on Hempstead had good prices.

Customer service, however, is lacking. On several occasions I've had to clear up my "failure to pay" in response to threats to have my stuff moved out. Even though I've been using credit card autopay. Sure, they were glad to clear it up each time after I showed them that I had paid. What a pain.

More recently, I've been dealing with them on move-out. One employee said that I could use their truck for move-out, and gave me detailed instructions on how and when to request it, and never said there was a charge. But then the manager said that there would be a (pretty hefty) charge and furthermore that if someone wanted it for move-in, I would get bumped even with just a few minutes notice.

I can say that the mis-information and bad service were always delivered politely.
