Editorial Review for Cava Bistro – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
Mia Bella's sibling is thriving, with the completion of downtown's light rail. The poly-cuisine menu is admirably executed and priced less than you'd expect. When oxtail pie and tuna tartare are next to each other on the menu, you know you're in for a wide range of choices. Portobello mushroom terrine, with rich layers of mascarpone-enhanced polenta, offers another intriguing option. Those less adventurous will enjoy reliable pork tenderloin, crab cakes or oven-roasted whole red snapper.

Insider Tips
Where to SitSitting outside on the patio offers more elbow room, but ask to be seated near a fan during muggy evenings.
Know Before You GoThough the dining room is small, there's a decent-sized bar, so consider an after-work drink.
ParkingPark in the garage directly across the street.

I was looking to explore more spots to eat in the historic district of Houston and decided to try out Cava Bistro. The exterior, has a nice facade and once you go in, there is a nice warmth and richness from the wood flooring mixed in with the stone arches. It gives you a feel more like a European wine cellar in a good way. In looking at the menu I was caught offguard by how inexpensive the prices were and the menu options all looked very tasty. Many times places get dumped on because of the poor service, but our waiter was attentive and insightfull. I would recommend to anyone to try out this cozy eatery. I plan on adding it to my list of restaurants to visit again. P.S. Try out the deserts
Pros: Price, Food, Ambiance
Cons: Parking

I took my gfs here this past Saturday for my birthday, and we love this nice cozy restaurant! Everything was great! Spencer, our waiter was wonderful, my friends loves the drinks he recommended and made. (may I add, a cutie) Our dinner was good for everyone except the mahi mahi that was a bit dry on their special that night but everything else was perfect.
Pros: food. service
Cons: parking
