“With a very nice view of Downtown Houston.”
“The desserts were GREAT and we thought the kids' buffet (kids choices, buffet lowered so kids could reach it) was a cute idea.”
“The food was ok, just like the other chain restaurants owned by Landry's this place just did not have good foo.”
“The aquarium is not that big but it has a nice variety of fish.”
“Downtown Aquarium of 410 Bagby here in Houston, Texas is a nice place, for entertainment and fun, for people of all ages.”
“Our children wanted to go back but only to enjoy the outdoor features.”
“It's over proced, the waiters we had was very bad (always absent, it took 25 minutes to get tartar sauce) and for the money, the food is pretty mediocre.”
“The restaurant is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, overpriced and not professional at all.”
“We waited AN HOUR for the stupid little three-minute train ride for the shark voyage.”
ATT.. THE BUILING WITH THE AQUARIUM WAS FANTASTIC. THE FOOD WAS MEDIOCRE. THE SERVICE WAS OKAY. THE HOSTESSES AND SEATING STAFF HAD VERY UNAPROPRIATE ATTITUDES, THEY WHERE SNOBBY AND RUDE, THEY FORGOT THEY WHERE IN THE HOSPITALITY BUISSNESS AND ACTED AS THOUGH THEY MANAGED AN EXCLUSIVE NIGHT CLUB. THE WAIT WAS EXCRUCIATINGLY LONG 3HRS, OVERALL NOT WORTH THE WAIT. I CAN'T BELEIVE I GOT SUCKERED INTO WAITING. OH, THE PIANO PLAYER IN THE BAR WAS REALLY SAD.
A Great Idea, But....... How difficult would it be to incorporate some sort of a reservation system for the restaurant? In order to dine at the restaurant (on the particular Saturday night that I attended), I had to wait in an unbearably long line just to give the hostess my name. Then, I was given one of those pagers and had to wait even longer! Our entire wait to be seated was over four hours long! That alone completely ruined our entire evening.
Too much $, too little to see.. Being a Chicagoan by birth, and having moved here recently, I have been thrown into the idea of everything in Texas being TEXAS SIZE... not this place. It took 20 minutes to go thru the exhibit, and 25 to get the car back from the valet attendants... PS: Save your $ and go visit the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago...now thats an AQUARIUM!
Too short, too long.... What was there in the aquarium was great...but it wasn't that much, it was too short.... For that price to see so little seemed like a rip off. But then we wanted a bite to eat and the line for the restaurants was LONG...too long...we had to go across the street to eat at the over-priced Hard Rock Cafe...
Nice Try. but no cigar. An attempt to develop a "mini theme park" in too small an area . It brings to mind that old Peggy Lee song, "Is That All There Is?"
food is horrible. one of the orders was way too salty, several dishes had some type of asian influenced vegetable stir fry and those were horrible. im asian and i have never tasted anything like that in asian cuisine. the dishes were overpriced for their quality, you can get better food at landry's. the only good thing was the aquariams in the dining rooms.... the shark exhibit was way over hyped and turned out to be a 15 minute look at sharks in a fish tank...
Great. I'm not sure why the others are so negative. I have been to lot of places in this country and I was extremely impressed with the restaurant, Perhaps the ones who did not like it are out of work. I will go and go again.
Taking on Water!.
We went on a Saturday night. There was an excellent Carribean band outside and a fire juggler.
The problem came from the excessive crowd, the poor traffic pattern-i.e, all of the exiting restaurant/ride atttendees had to cross through the line of waiting customers, creating a lot of awkward situations. Waiting for 30-40 minutes just to get up to the desk to find out how long the wait would be, we were told that it would be an extra 1-1/2 to 2 hours before we could be seated, with it already being 9:00, that meant we wouldn't be seated until 11:00 to begin our order! Not worth the hassle, especially on a Saturday night when we on our way t go dancing after dinner! valet parking, which took another 20-30 minutes to get our vehicle.
night on the town. i have no idea what the other people are talking about. if you go to any restarant on a sat. night you will expect a wait. that is just common sense! and it was only a hour. which if you do have common sense is not that bad for a place that just recently opened. the exhibit was great my kids loved it. they were amazed with all the different animal life, and also my kids were so excited to touch some of the animals. when i went to eat we decided to go to the marina matine cafe. the service there was excellent. and the portions of food was great. i personally recommend going to the cafe. and my kids said they definately want to come back. we found out there is a birthday package to the cafe, and i know i will be back soon
Not worth the Money. Most of the review are on target - the place is over-hyped. It is too small, narrow aisles crowded with strollers, small aquariums, crowded, long lines, parking is too expensive ($3 per hour) as is everything else ($7.50 to get in the aquarium, 4.50 for the train ride, 3.50 for the ferris wheel, and $2.50 for the merry go round). The shark tank on the train ride is pretty neat, but the sharks aren't as big as they lead you to think - and you only get about 4 minute to watch - then the train is on its way. You are forced to go throughthe gift shop - what t=does that tell you about their focus!
