What Tex-Mex is to Mexican food, Pei Wei is to Chinese food...Tex-Chi?. Cheap as in quality, def not price. Wasn't nasty food, but it wasn't delicious either. I paid $8 plus dollars for a bowl of noodles and 5 shrimp. Leaves something to be desired.

Fast-food, Pan-Asian fare that's quick, cheap and surprisingly good.. The Scene
This spin-off from the P.F. Chang's folks is built for speed and economy, offering brisk counter service or wham-bang-take-away orders of yuppified Asian fare. Interior decoration leans toward the utilitarian, but a fiery red concrete floor and a few faux-Far Eastern woodworking flourishes save Pei Wei (pronounced "pay way") from corporate anonymity. The staff sports all-black outfits that seem a tad severe if oh-so-fashionable. But there's no quibbling with the slick service and low cost.

The Food
Like Chang's, the menu is a Pan-Asian assembly of popular dishes of Thai, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese descent revamped for American tastes. Generally, you pick the treatment--for example, the chilies and peanuts of Kung Pao--and the particular meat, from chicken, beef, shrimp or scallops. Vegetables/tofu is an option, too.

Horrible!. Are you kidding me houston? This is a city filled with Asian people everywhere, and you're telling me that the best tasting chinese food is Pei Wei which is a place started by non-Asian people? It's a cheap knock-off of Chinese food. Ask any Asian person- they wouldn't eat Pei wei or PF Chang's ever. Come on! The best Asian food in Houston if you want Chinese is all over Chinatown! Go to Bellaire in houston and you will find so much variety, amazing authentic cuisine, and all at amazing prices.

hidden treasure. This is the fast food version of PF Chang's. The best part is that the dishes are half the price and no tipping is needed since it is diner style. The pad thai is awesome. But you can not go wrong with anything on the menu.

Great food. I would like to add a correction to a previous members statement... there is absolutely NO msg used in their food. That's apparent and posted on the menus on the wall. The food is good at peak times otherwise it can be a little old tasting. Other than that great place to eat and hang out with friends.

Inconsistently Good. The food is good but not consistently. As long as you order your food during peak times you will get it fresh. If you order it at non-peak times you will typically receive food that looks like it's been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile. It does feel like you're getting P.F. Chang's at a discounted price, but you learn that you pay for the service. It's pretty much do it yourself at Pei Wei. And often your meals and those of others in your party will arrive at all different times. Love the honey chicken and brown rice.

Narrow Minded. This resutraunt is fantastic!, Anyone who thinks other wise, is mistaken. All authentic asian restaurants serve the food as it becomes availble. The noise is a little too loud but, the food, design, and atmosphere make up for that. It's really a warm and inviting place. I recomend Beef Blazing Noodles, if you enjoy spicy food..

Just a gimmick for a trendy place. The food is okay, but they brought my entree out 10 minutes after my friend received hers. The acoustics there are awful and the seating system is strange. It is fairly fast and inexpensive fake Asian food. There are much better Chinese/Asian places

Unique Food. Food is unique and great tasting. Spices seem to be just right. Twice my group had difficulty getting all the orders to the table at the same time. Seems there's a black hole back there in the kitchen.
