sad and overpriced. Overpriced for sentimental fools. Small bland coney was $1.69. Juicy Lucy burger was a dried out quarter pounder with cheese for $4.99. Small paper container of warmed over fries with canned cheese sauce and a tablespoon of chili on top was $2.78. They need to look what their competion is doing and quit living on their past reputation (?).

Marvin Zindler's Favorite Fast Food Joint. The late Marvin Zindler was a consumer reporter for Eyewitness News, Channel 13. He loved "JCI" and gave them Blue Ribbon Awards pretty consistently.

The hot dog rolls are sweet and steamed, so they taste fresh. The regular hot dogs are pretty standard. It's the toppings--beanless chili, stadium cheese, finely diced white onions, and yellow mustard that really make you want to eat three or four. The chili cheese fries... come in second place.

On Wednesday nights, kids eat free. On Sundays, you can get a hot dog for 99 cents. They are good at notifying you of their specials on their marquees.

When I went to New York City, I was surprised they didn't have JCI's there, so I consider Houston lucky.

Grilled franks are the top dogs at this casual spot for a quick lunch or affordable dinner.. In Short
Founded in 1923, this locally owned and operated fast-food chain serves up hot dogs and other quick-serve favorites. Customers can choose to drive through, take out or dine in. The restaurant is best known for its Coney Island hot dog: a grilled all-beef wiener, chili, mustard, onions on a fresh-baked bun. Other favorites include chili pie with Fritos, cheeseburgers, cheese fries, Italian sausage sandwiches and tater tots. For dessert, choose from apple pie, brownies, milk shakes and cheesecakes.
