Pass on the Oysters Ernie.
Should oysters be deep fried, with brown gravy sauce, and milky when you bite into them?
Collina's allows you to bring your vino which makes it a popular place.
The assorted breads and the seafood pasta were pretty good.
Service was fair.
It's very casual and a family place.
yummy. Casual, laid back. not stuffy and BYOB!! great food. worth the wait. as a former restaraunt worker i can tell you, the person saying the restaraunt was "dirty" in the kitchen and togo area, should take a look behind the kitchen and prep doors to their favorite dining spot during a dinner rush. its always crazy busy....with stuff all over the place. the place is not dirty....try a week night for a faster meal
Very disappointed- DIRTY.
Thursday Nov. 19, 8:30 pm. I was a regular customer at Collina's in the Heights for several years. Have not been there in several months and was in the mood for a good pizza. First thing we notice is how dirty the place is. From what we can see of the food prep area, filthy.
Floors were gross, counters were gross and the help appeared not interested. Previously waiters would bring fresh hot focchia bread to every table. Waitress tells us tonight "we don't offer that anymore" you have to pay. Ok, not a big deal, I drink my ice tea- tastes like water. Waitress brings us 2 plates for the pizza, plates have crusted on food. My 12 year old tells me- Mom, do you want to leave? He lost his appetite. I ask to see a manager, a young guy comes out, I asked him how long he's been there, 10 years was his response. I explain how we were faithful customers, blah blah, and how disappointed we are tonight. He tells me, yes the restaurant may look dirty but we clean it every night, we don't clean it until the restaurant closes. HELLO.......
I ask him if his appetite would be ruined seeing how everything looks so dirty? He said no. That will tell you he believes it's perfectly fine to dine at his place in filth, but remember, they do clean it after closing. Poor guy is missing the entire point. We will not go to Collina's again. PERIOD. Dirty establishment, poor management, staff clearly does not care. THUMBS DOWN. I am reporting Collina's to the Health Dept. This web site requires a rating 1-5 stars, my review will not print unless I choose at least one star. My rating is ZERO
My New Favorite Place.
This was my first time here and I really enjoyed it. We took an out of town visiter for dinner on a Friday evening. Aside from being very loud, it was great. The pizza was outstanding.
The staff was good, but they dress too casually.A more uniform look would be better.
Awful Customer Service. I was on the phone with them and was hung up on in the middle of asking a question. I called back to talk to the manager and was told, "Ummm, sorry dude"
Great Pizza. This place has great pizza with a number of toppings for anyone. I ate with a few friends on the patio and the service was very good. The food was brought out quickly and tasted great. For $60 Collina's feed four big guys and one girl. I personally recommend the 20" Z-Special Pizza. The bring your own beer or wine is a nice touch too.
Great value for excellent italian food.
We are regulars at Collina's in the Heights. Their menu is extensive and everything we ever had has been amazing. The wait can be a bit crazy if you arrive after 6:00 pm on Friday and Saturday nights, but definitevely worth it.
You can bring your own wine so we always seem to go with a group of friends and family and it satisfies everyone. Try their vegetable lasagna and portobello mushrooms both are excellent choices. All of their entrees come with a great salad and awesome bread.
Lost a Loyal Customer. I used to love going to Collina's in the Heights or ordering delivery. I have brought family and friends there because the pizza is outstanding, the Italian food is decent, and their prices are reasonable. However, they have lost a customer forever due to their ineptitude. I had given up on calling to place orders because the highschoolers they hire to answer the phone were impolite and messed up orders. They have a website ordering option that avoided the highschooler so I used that happily for over a year. Tonight, for the third time, their website has displayed an order confirmation, but the restaurant claims to never have received the order. There are other pizza places in the Heights with delivery times two or three times quicker.
Editorial Review. Down home Italian pastas, pizzas, salads and chicken dishes please the palate at this warm, casual eatery.
Great Food; Friendly Staff.
Since I moved to Houston two years ago, Collina's has been one of my favorite Italian restuarants to visit. The B.Y.O.B. idea is a great way to save money; everytime I go, the majority of the customers have brought a bottle of wine with them. My favorite dish is the chicken rosemarino, but the pizza is a close second. Every few weeks we'll order a couple of huge 20 inch pizzas for my kids and their friends and we're never disappointed with the timeliness of the delivery driver or with the quality of the food.
Once we had a problem with our check and the manager came by to apologize personally, which was a nice gesture. The waitstaff are fun to talk to and they do a great job with as many people as they have to deal with. Whenever I drive by the place on a weekend evening, the place looks packed. I prefer to go Monday evenings when there aren't so many people....
