Great Place for Kabob.
I try to make it over to House of Kabob at least once a week. The entree plates are massive and are priced pretty reasonably. Achmed (owner and cook) is a great guy. He's always there and takes pride in the place he runs. I usually get the combo kabob plate with hummus and spicy rice. Consistant and fresh every time.
This has become my favorite place to have a quick, filling meal.
Authentic Middle Eastern Food Houston.
Even though the chicken shawarma is ridiculously tasty, the Tea they serve there is delicious. The tea is self serve unlimited for 99 cents.
Basic rice and hummas, and then beef/chicken shawarma meat, aswell as beef/chicken shish-kabob, Dont forget the tender soft luscious melt in your mouth Lamb shank.
Their beef shawarma is decent but for the best in Houston go to Adams(On Westiemer towards H6) for the best Beef Shawarma meat.
I never order a shawarma sandwich
Always a Shawarma plate. It cost a little more but you get triple the amount of meat(honest) rice and hummas(plus free bread).
O yea last but not least ask for Garlic sauce(House of Kabob makes supreme garlic sauce) and hot sauce. With this I feel as though I have eaten 3 sharwarma sandwiches with my personal preference of how much sauce/hummas goes with it.
Im about to go there right now, just for the tea....
Modest Middle Eastern eatery serves up standard fare in a friendly, frugal setting..
The Scene
Scarcely a house at all, this modest Middle Eastern eatery is a hole-in-the-wall operation tucked away in one of the endless strip centers that populate this stretch of Westheimer Road. Blink and you'll miss it. A half dozen or so spartan tables line one wall, while the counter and food prep area claim the other. Takeout business seems to be as important as in-house dining. A contingent of Arabic regulars frequent the establishment--an indication of its authenticity, perhaps--but the affable chef-owner makes newcomers feel right at home, too.
The Food
Fans of Middle East cuisine can count on finding usual fare here--gooey heaps of hummus (chickpeas) and baba ghanoush (eggplant) just waiting to be scooped up with pita bread, lemony fresh tabouleh (parsely and wheat) salad, mint-laced yogurt with cucumber. Grilled meats, especially the chicken, are moist and well-spiced and served as sandwiches or full entrees. Adventurous? Ask about the lamb brains pita.
-. It is a good place for a quick bite, it is a shame that in Houston there aren't any authentic and good Lebenese restaurants, unlike Montreal where you would really think you are in Beirut....
