Tips for Jenni's Noodle House

Save your money. I saw an article about the restaurant in Southern Living several years ago.It sparked my interest and I vowed to visit one of the locations if I was in the area. I got an opportunity on 7/22/11. I love Vietnamese food for it's great seasoning and fresh ingredients.I took my daughter and sister for a night out. I have to say that I regret visiting the restaurant. The $53.37 that I spent was not worth it. The food was NOT fresh. It appeared to be re-heated. The soup that I ordered had tough, dry pieces of chicken in it and was NOT seasoned AT ALL. Needless to say we left a table full of barely touched food. I complained to Nick the server. He replaced the chicken soup with more eggrolls-again they were not fresh and appeared to be reheated. In frustration, we just left. I found the receipt in my wallet from the visit and just had to write about the experience. I will NOT EVER visit this establishment again

Mmmmm.....curry.. EVERYTHING I have tried is good. Dragon guy review below is ignorant since I believe Jenni's Noodle House has been around for years and years and years. Try the curry and the crispy eggrolls. They have interesting art on the wall and the staff is accommodating. Parking is tight, but they have another location by Galleria and parking is ok there.

Just OK. This place was just OK. In a town with amazing Vietnamese pho, Jenni's noodles just did not deliver. My impression before I went was that it would be this HIP little place, but that's not true. They have cafeteria style seating for maybe 20 people. That would be fine if the food rocked, b/c then it would be worth it, but no. Too bad b/c it's hard for little restaurants like this to survive unless they are REALLY REALLY good.

DISAPPOINTING. Noodles and Asian food are some of my favorite things in the world. Jenni's Noodle House was really quite average, and the prices make it well below average. This place seems like something they should post on the "Stuff White People Like" blog.

Lacking Authenticity and OVERPRICED. I'd been wanting to try this place for awhile since I always pass by the area. I went for the first time yesterday, and I'm sad to say I'm not impressed. The dishes were overpriced and lacked the flavor I'm accustomed to at authentic Asian restaurants. My meal was alright, but it left something to be desired. I suppose the prices are alright considering the restaurant is in River Oaks, but I would much rather make the drive to Chinatown to get a $6 bowl of noodle soup than pay almost twice as much for this Americanized stuff.

My New Addiction. I absolutelt LOVE Jenni's Noodle House and find myself eating there at least once aweek. The staff there is very friendly and the food is fresh and healthy. I love the casual atmosphere and their prices are very resonable.

Prices are not "stupid low," just plain stupid. Cute cashier.. I went to Jenni's about a month ago after hearing all the amazing things about it. Like the last reviewer said, the prices are abysmal.

INTRO: After hearing such descriptions as "stupid low prices" and "seriously cheap," I was delighted-- finally, a place to eat that was close by that had good food and didn't overcharge! I balked a little at the menu --$10 for most entrees-- but figured they made up for it with generous portions.

THE PRICE: I ordered the Infernal Chicken Curry to go over the phone, got there (HORRIBLE PARKING!), paid the full $10, and waited for them to bring it out. I was shocked to see the serving size-- about 12 oz of curry and-- get this-- a tiny 4 OZ TUB OF JASMINE RICE. I had no idea jasmine rice was so expensive! Oh wait-- IT'S NOT (uncooked rice is $2/lb, so in terms of cooked rice I was getting MAYBE $0.25 worth).

Why am I so upset about rice? Because it's such a cheap, easy thing to make and serve in fair portions, and Jenni's can't even give you your money's worth! $10 for two scoops of rice and a cup of curry.

THE FOOD: The curry was good (the little there was of it, anyway)-- it was creamy, with the subtle flavor of coconut milk, and big chunks of chicken. Not too spicy, and very aromatic. In all, a $5 or $6 curry.

THE SERVICE: The cashier was adorable and I loved her. She had an offbeat sense of humor and made me want to go back, but not at the prices she was charging me.

CONCLUSION: The price isn't so much the issue as the fact that Jenni's seems to think that this is "cheap." If I wanted a gourmet, high-priced, sit-down restaurant, I'd go there. Maybe the prices were lower a year or two ago and have recently gone up, or maybe the "to go" portion is just ridiculously undersized. Whatever the reason, I doubt I'll be going there again unless the price improves dramatically (spoiler: It won't.)

Will NEVER eat from here AGAIN!!! (MUST READ THIS!!). My co-worker and I decided to give this place a try since people seemed to have good inputs about it, well let me tell you the TRUTH....this place is H O R R I B L E!!!! Not only are the prices too high but the to-go quantity is ridiculously small.....I can get full eating a KIDS Happy Meal from McDonalds instead of their lunch portion!! I was so furious when I saw what I paid for AND we were charged a $1 for picking up our OWN food!! The quality of the food is even WORSE, I ordered the Egg Roll Vermicelli and the noddles were hard and had a horrible tast overall. My co-worker ordered the chicken vermicelli and the chicken was sooooo dry and HORRIBLE! I have NEVER been so disppointment with a restaurant like this before. I will just stick with THE BEST Vietnamese Restaurant I have ever had.....Vietopia on Buffalo Spdway...their vermicelli bowls are GREAT and they even INCLUDE the spring roll AND its much cheaper! You should try it so you can tell the difference!

Best Noodles in Houston. I must tell my fellow Houstonians, I just had the most amazing dish at Jenni's Noodle House. The Buddha Soda Noodles with Salt-n-Pepper Shrimp was the best tasting Noodle dish I've ever eaten. It is a must try! Soba noodles, bean sprouts, snow peas, green onions and garlic stir fried and topped with grilled salt-n-pepper shrimp. Amazing!
