The Scene – In a city riddled with hundreds of Mexican restaurants, trying to stand out can be a real challenge. Maria Selma gives it a good try by augmenting the usual Tex-Mex standards with a handful of interesting dishes from Mexico City. Colorful and energetic (without sinking into franchise kitschiness), the room is comfortably designed and diners who like their elbow room should appreciate the spacious layout of tables and chairs. A new patio area is a welcome addition for those who enjoy their margaritas alfresco. – – The Food – The adventurous will check out…
just the right portions

the first time i came here was with my boyfriend. we had a blast. i think the food is amazing and they dont give too much. its always the right portion. after that i come back with my friends and they absolutely love the place. if you drive too fast you may miss it but its so cute. the patio outside is really nice to sit on when the weather permits. i think this place is definitely worth it.
- Pros: great food and drinks, nice atmosphere, friendly waiters, and great serivce
- Cons: the parking lot is small and kind of hard to navigate
Stay away if you want good service

I have been to Maria Selma's at least a dozen times over the past year and generally have found the food to be above average. However, the service has clearly deteriorated over the past few months. Orders confused, poor timing, lengthy delays even when not overly crowded. My last encounter topped it all.
Recently I went to the restaurant to meet a friend several days after Ike. We only wanted a non-alcoholic drink and to sit and talk for a brief while since no coffee shops in the area were open. When the waiter understood that we weren't eating, he sent over a man who later identified himself as the owner. I should add the restaurant was at most a 1/3rd full at the time. The owner told us we couldn't take up a table unless we were eating. I told him I was a frequent customer and we were only going to be there a short while. He not only looked at me like I was liying, he essentially asked me to have a seat at the bar or leave. I wouldn't have minded if the restaurant were full, but it was not even close. My friend and iIwent to the bar and stayed for about an hour. While a few folks came in during that time just as many left. I can think of any number of ways the owner could have better handled this situation. With his attitude, it's no wonder the service has deteriorated. With other good restaurants in the neighborhood, Maria Selma's is off my list.
- Pros: decent food
- Cons: poor service, unfriendly owner

One of my friends told me about this place so we made plans to have a Birthday party there we reserved a table for 20 we got there it was 85 degrees in there. So we asked them to please lower the air no big deal ,lets say we asked four or five times it was hot stuffy nasty and just HOT HOT HOT!!!! The food was BAD Mexican Food. I do not mind spending money eating out but lets say Taco Bell had more flavor, the meat was dry the chips were oily and thshrimp was NASTY . I have my own Business in that area and I deal with lots of clients and lets just say the manager at Maria Selmas needs to take some clases on cutomer service he got a little nasty when we askes about the air. Please got a hole in the wall Taqeria befor going there
