There are Way Better Sushi Restaurants than Fish. The service is inconsistent, sometimes good and sometimes just plain bad. They seem to pay more attention to customers who buy them drinks and shots, which was the case last time I was there. Not coming back. I rather take my business to better sushi establishments in the Houston area.
Fine service, bad food. I have eaten here a few times and never been overly impressed by their food or service. I have never felt it was the "freshest" tasting sushi in town; especially for the price. I would have written the same review of the food, even before I ate there on Friday and my suspicions were confirmed; I got really sick!! Please don't see this as a jaded reveiw; take it as you wish. Like I said, I have always felt like their sushi wasn't as fresh as it could be. I can think of many other places that have great, fresh sushi at the same price or CHEAPER! The service was decent.
Overpriced and Rude.
The sushi at this place is okay but nothing special. There are a lot of places around town that serve better sushi for a lot lower prices.
The service is downright awful. I had to complain to the manager (something I almost never do) and the manager was even more rude than the servers. With so many sushi places around town there is no reason to pay for overpriced food and poor service. I will not be back.
This is my favorite Sushi restaurant in Houston.. I admit.. I could eat sushi pretty much anywhere, it's my absolute favorite food. But, anytime my friends and I want to meet up for drinks and dinner, we always choose the Fish. The atmosphere, music, and people make it a fun place to go before hitting the town. You HAVE to try the hot roll and lobster roll.. there's nothing else like those two anywhere in Houston.. The service is a bit slow but who cares when you're out with your friends drinking and talking? I love it there and have been over 20 times.
Great food, extremely horrible service. The Fish has been a favorite place of mine for its location and great food. However, I would NOT recommend it, as the service is extremely horrible. It is interesting to me how they can find such bad service people in such a great city. If you do decide to go, request that you not be seated in Tracie's area, as she almost always acts as though her boyfriend just dumped her, which is a shame since she could actually be kind of pretty if she would just smile and act like she didn't hate her job. The management of this place should really pay attention to the service aspect, since they seem to have gotten it right on the atmosphere and the food.
Overpriced and pretentious - there are better options. I have been to this restaurant on three separate occassions and have never had a good experience (I don't plant to be back for a fourth). The food is decent, though nothing exceptional. The fatty tuna is consistently bland (yet costs $8 a piece) and I have yet to have a dish there that really blew me away. The portions are also smaller than any other sushi place that I've been to, and yet this place is by far the most expensive sushi restaurant that I've ever encountered. The service is horrendous and the overall attitude of the staff is pretentious and uninviting. I had to speak to the manager on my most recent visit and he was rude and condescending. Overall, there are several sushi places that I would recommend before this one just on the quality of the food alone. When you add in the factors of atmosphere, service, and price there is simply no reason to go to The Fish for sushi or anything else for that matter.
Love this place. The sushi is fabulous. I eat here frequently and have never had bad service, even when it is packed on the weekends. The peppercorn tuna is amazing. And the banana tempura dessert is heavenly. Huge bento boxes for lunch. The fish is very fresh. Wonderful place!
BAD SUSHI BAD SERVICE BAD OVERALL EXPERIENCE. This was my second time going here (the first was okay). The waitress was all too ready to give us some more hot saki, but never around to ask how we were doing. The food came-one of my rolls was not ready, although my partner had the same roll and it was served. The rolls were tinier than any I have eatten in a (good) sushi establishment. They tasted worse than what you could get at your local grocery store. By the time the other roll came, I had already finished eatting. And boy, was I not happy when that check came. Extremely overpriced for what it's worth. I could have gone to a good/expensive restaurant for what we paid here.
THE FISH!=THE WORST!. !SNUBBED! is the way i will call their great service.(sarcastic) I guess if your from the east coast one would be accustomed to this type of service. But I'm NOT!. I was waiting over 30 minutes and watching people go in with the same amount of people in my party.Maybe it was that I did not fit the type of persona that they want for a client or could they be ? because of my Mexican wife and half breed kids ,I also had a visitor from out of town with me, I left and will never go back. Too bad for them cause we dropped at least $300 in 2 different sushi spots that night plus tips .THE FISH=THE WORST!
Great Food, Terrible Service.
It is a shame I can't come back here again because the last two times I have been here with my boyfriend we have had horrible service. I love their sushi, but the service terrible. You have to wait forever to get the bill, and forget about getting a refill. The speciality sushi rolls are wonderful, once you get them. My favorites are the hot roll, the catepillar roll, and the lickty-split. Unfortunately because of the bad service, my boyfriend refuses to come back here.
To the restaurant: You are a great sushi restaurant, and I would much rather support your business than chain sushi restaurants, but you need to improve your service to keep your clientel loyal. I want to be able to come back and eat here. Please do something about your poor service.
