Awesome Food. I eat here all the time. The fact that it is in a strip center makes one think before entering but once you go inside and sample the food, you will love it. I am born and raised here in Houston and only began eating Indian food about 4 years ago. Since then I have tried it all over the country. This affordable place is as good as any I have tried. I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is a little lacking but the food makes up for it. If you have never eaten Idian but want to try, I suggest you go there at lunch for their buffet. It will allow you to try many things since you will likely not know what to order from a menu. Good eating!

Gutter place - worst food. Please dont eat in this place, smells like garbage.

East West food was much better than this. Even though east west food uncle never takes bath or change his socks and shoes for decades his food was way better than this gutter place. The menu says ghost biryani, dont know what the heck is, might be refering to the ppl who cook there. all food stinks.. Chicken biryani was like stale tomato rice. Garlic naan stinked like they rubbed it on the dog before serving. PLS dont go there and kill urself, believe me U ll hate the food...

Great Indian food, highly recommended. Having been passed this place many times we finally decided to venture in and were very surprised by the quality of the food and great service. Its storefront location does not give it great appeal, however what it lacks in looks, it makes up for with the food.

We have eaten Indian in many restaurants in Houston and around the world and would rate the food here as amongst the best. If you like Indian food, you will like it here, if you have never tried it, we recommend you start with Taj India.

In terms of the food itself, the Chicken Khorma had excellent sauce and the Lamb Jalfrazi was rare in that the lamb was tender, tasted like lamb and was complimented by the sauce rather than masked by it.The portions were big so loosen your belt buckles. Make sure you try the Naan bread which was excellent also.

The man and woman who served us seemed to genuinely care about the service and were very efficient.

We wont be driving by here in the future without stopping.

Stay away from here. I have never bothered to write reviews for places where the food has been good. But I could not stop from wrting a review this time after eating what they served/called Indian Food. Where else will you get Baingan Burtha with peas (ok they say the order got misplaced). But how about Aloo palak with loads of sour cream or Veg biryani with Zuchini and Lima beans...catch my drift???

It was not like I was looking for a good Indian restaurant in Angola or Ecaudor or the Amazon. This is houston for god's sake...

Delicious food, great service. Taj India has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants. Every dish we have tried had been excellent, satisfying both the meat-eaters and the vegetarians in our group. A good variety of dishes are offered, and the prices are very reasonable. Don't worry about the food being too spicy -- or not spicy enough! They will tailor the level of heat to your specifications.

The service is always very friendly and professional. Their take-out option seems to be very popular, so if you try to phone in an order and they don't answer right away, try calling back in five minutes. Taj India appears to be family-owned and operated, so their staff is small but efficient. They are closed on Mondays, and I don't begrudge them a night off but often I seem to crave their food on Monday nights when I'm feeling too lazy to cook!

Taj India is hidden in a strip center on the northwest corner of Highway 6 and West Little York (closest to WLY). It's definitely worth seeking out. The prices are very reasonable and the food is outstanding.

Outstanding value in superb Indian food!. We have repeatedly returned to Taj India for outstanding food value. Consistency in quality, quantity and excellent service in this storefront enclave are their trademark. We love their Chicken Tikka, Lamb Jalferezi, and Dal Makhni and enjoy both eating in and taking out. Without casting stones at other Indian restaurants in Houston (we have tried most and enjoy several very much), we have found the value at Taj India to exceed that of some of the most highly praised Indian restaurants on the west side of Houston. We have been known to drive past two other well regarded Indian places to go to Taj India and it has always been worth the trip. This is not a fancy dining experience but it is always pleasant and the food is 5 stars in our book!

Hidden Indian. This is a great restaurant for food and service. The downside is that this is a little storefront restaurant that is easy to overlook. When we were there, several Indian customers also came in and visited, had dinner or ordered take-out really sold us on this place. Service was unbelievable. The waitress brought us a clean, new plate for each dish. I ordered the curry tandoori chicken. I've never had chicken so succulent and tasty. The meat literally melted in my mouth. The home-made ice cream dessert was to excellent.

The only drawbacks were the size of the dining area and the location. This is an easy place to overlook, and when we were there it was almost empty. I hope people try this place, they won't be dissapointed. But, if too many discover it, you might have a hard time getting a seat.
