West side sushi restaurant with a focus on the food instead of the nightlife. – In Short
A splashing water wall feature at the front of the spacious restaurant reveals a contemporary, feng shui dining room with a mix of families and cozy couples. Expect a varied menu of sushi, sashimi and rolls (try the rainforest roll with crab, eel and marble seaweed); inventive appetizers; soups; noodle dishes and salads. Standout entrees include grilled lamb chops, Japanese scallops and miso-marinated salmon. A corner bar with flat-screen TV draws a crowd during happy hour.
Sushi is great!!! – I am kinda picky at sushi but I m really satisfied with the sushi over there. They made the fresh and delicious sushi ever. Moreover, the service is good too; staff are so nice. Highly Recommed!!!!!
Freshest sushi, friendly staff, great find! – Aka has *really* fresh product. Yellowtail was to die for. For those who eat only cooked sushi there is plenty to choose from. The appetizers are creative and yummy for 'tapas' style eating. Good selection of boutique Sakes, and the staff knows their stuff. Modern, open decor, but friendly. Great bathrooms.
Great Food – Not only is the sushi wonderful, but the non-sushi eaters have plenty of choices. I have been twice and both times I have been pleasantly surprised by my selection. I recommend ordering one of the rolls for appetizer. They are unique and tasty. It can be romantic and social.
A find on the Westside! – Last week my husband and I along with another couple tried this restaurant. I was pleased to see plenty of non sushi choices on the menu.
The Shiso Hasami Age, Soft Shell Crab and Sashimi Platter were excellent and we ended up ordering seconds.
Reasonably priced wine, decor's clean and contemporary, staff is charming and patient with us novice Japanese diners. Theyre happy to speed/slow your meal to suit individual preference. The food isnt cheap but it is excellent quality.
We were so impressed we returned the following evening with our children (and I'm also writing a first review)! They enjoyed most of the food although we might have been a bit liberal with the truth about what they were actually eating! The kids' (learner) chopsticks are a nice touch too.
We're all looking forward to our next visit which hopefully will be very soon!
Hidden Trasure – I have to agree, the restaurant is beautiful, and the staffs are all very friendly and accomodating. i have visited Aka twice now and couldn't have ask for more. Menu has very interesting choices from kitchen to sushi bar, with very reasonable price for their wine list too. They are one of the few in town that serves top quality sushi and sashimi. My favorit, Shiso Hasami Age and Sunset Roll from their signature dish. Two Thumbs up!
Hidden Treasure – As I walked in I was taken away by the unique water wall at the entrance. The decor and contemporary design of the interior made it an exciting place to dine. The staff was hospitable and polite. I highly recommend lamb chops and Tsunami Roll. Open until 11 on Friday and Saturday!!
Fresh sushi! Great Kitchen Food – Defninitely one of the best value japanese restaurant for lunch! and it's great food!
friendly efficient service. Would definitely visit again and reccomend it to
