Authentic Sichuan Food at Very Reasonable Prices. When it comes to Chinese food, I have an advantage that most Americans don't: I have a Chinese wife. As if that weren't good enough, she's a chef and connoisseur of good food. So I've been able to visit a host of Chinese eateries that cater almost exclusively to a Chinese clientele, almost all of them on the southwest side of town, and most of them along Bellaire Blvd between Gessner and Kirkwood. But if one really wants to experience a taste of authentic Sichuan cuisine, one need travel no farther than, well, to Sichuan Cuisine. Really, to call this place a restaurant is a bit of a stretch. It's a shop, and a rather small one with maybe fifteen tables. But don't let the size of the place put you off. The wait person may or may not speak English. If they don't, point to the items you want. They probably have forks; I don't know. I use chopsticks when I eat Chinese. The menus are in Chinese with English subtitles. As is typical with a Chinese restaurant, dozens of dishes are offered, almost all of which are very reasonably priced. The food is top notch and authentic. I enjoy the spicy dishes. Even though they are spicy hot, the heat doesn't sit there and burn a hole through your tongue the way it does with some other types of cuisine. It feels more like the heat is scouring my taste buds, thus enhancing the wonderful flavors of the dishes even more. Everything I have eaten there has been good, but probably my most favorite is the flounder. I don't know what it's called on the menu, but the fish is cut up into portions just the right size for chopsticks, stir-fried in a light batter, then combined with a spicy red sauce and vegetables. It's fantastic! The parking lot at this strip mall is always crowded, but there's usually enough of a turnover in traffic where you can find a space somewhere. At this same location, there are a couple other Chinese eateries that have very good and very authentic Chinese food, albeit from different regions of China.

Wonderful & Authentic Sichuan Cuisine if you do not require small talk from your waitress.. This place has great food at a fabulous price! I went there with the parents of a buddy, who were visiting from Chengdu, Sichuan, China. They told me that after I visited Chengdu that I would see that it feels like you're back in Sichuan. I agree wholeheartedly. This place is fabulous. The food is fabulous, and the price is comparable to eating at McDonald's. It's the greatest secret of Chinatown! The service is good, but the English is bad. It's nearly impossible to do a "hot-pot" unless you speak Chinese, however. Non-chinese Americans probably wouldn't appreciate that as much anyway. The state of Sichuan is known for it's wonderful spicy food. If you cannot afford to visit China, this is like stepping into a restaurant there, but right here in Houston. If you want an adventure, you must visit this restaurant!
