“We were virtually ignored by our server while other tables around us received good service.”
“The subs are much smaller now (less meatballs, cold cuts and cheese) and the pizza too doughy, but the prices are on the rise.”
Authentic italian food prepared by people who are actually from Italy! Great casual atmosphere where delicious food is served with pride at reasonable prices. I grew up enjoying Sunday dinners prepared by my grandmother from southern Italy and this place reminds me of that great experience. If you appreciate the real thing, this is your place!
Great "real" Italian. We live in Katy and love going to Rocco's. I am Italian and rarely like the food at Italian restaurants, but have found that Rocco's tastes like my grandmothers home cooking! The portion sizes are perfect so that you get enough food without feeling stuffed- unlike most Americanized places that over-serve- you get a reasonable amount of food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is great with soft music playing and a relaxed feeling- not rushed in and out to clear the table. Our service is always fantastic and we have enjoyed getting to know a lot of the staff. I would recommend the marsala, the lasagna or any of their specials- oh and their cream cake is to die for. If you have not tried this place out I would highly suggest that you do--and soon. If you are looking for an authentic Italian style meal and enjoy a laid back friendly atmosphere Rocco's is the best in town~
You Can Do Much Better In Katy, Don't Waste Your Money.
We've lived near Rocco's for years and finally decided to try it. We will not be going back. We were virtually ignored by our server while other tables around us received good service. We are patient people and twice my wife requested that we simply pay for the drinks, which took a ridiculous amount of time to order AND then deliver, and leave.
We ordered garlic bread as an appetizer and only got it AFTER our meal was delivered, even though I got up at one point and asked about it. While this was going on, we watched a couple come in 20 minutes after us, order and have bread and drinks on the table in less than 5 minutes.
The portions were ridiculously small. My "square" of lasagna was approximately 3x3 inches. They charge extra for seasoned olive oil to dip the bread in, the same bread that most got immediately with their drinks. And wait, it gets better...
I told my wife, I sure wish I could have had a meat sauce for my lasagna. No sooner had I said that then the couple next to us orders lasagna and their waiter asks if they want meat sauce. Mine never even mentioned it.
Our waiter was simply unavailable to us. He would come serve neighboring tables, not even glance in our direction and be gone for another 10 minutes.
There are way too many restaurants to put up with this poor service. If you want good Italian in Katy, go to Hasta La Pasta. It is nicer decor, much better service, larger portions and you'll never be treated like you're invisible.
Controller. I can not say anything negative at all about the menu. Great food and recommend the experience to everyone. Don't forget to say hello to Rocco.
Great Lasagna but having trouble with menu changes. The lasagna here is always top notch, but other items I have ordered recently have been a disapointment. The subs are much smaller now (less meatballs, cold cuts and cheese) and the pizza too doughy, but the prices are on the rise. Double check all your take out orders and get them to be specific about cooking methods. The last cold sub I ordered was heated and very greasy (un-eatable). I think we will now stick with the dining room so that we an see what we are getting. I hope things change soon.
