This urbanized, Texana-clad barbecue joint has remained wildly popular owing to its expertly mesquite-smoked brisket and a variety of platters.. The Scene
The funky older building has limited seating inside, but that's OK. It's more fun to grab your tray from the cafeteria-style line and head for the many picnic tables lined up outside on a covered patio. You can still hear the Willie Nelson music blasting away. Look for a curious mix of West U yuppies, blue-collar 'cue fans, Rice students and Montrose bohos. With barbecue this accomplished, a second location was inevitable; Wild West residents and businesses are mighty grateful for the Katy Freeway outpost. Thank your lucky stars you live in Texas and celebrate with another piece of rich pecan pie.

The Food
Moist smoked duck and chicken lean toward the oil slick, but the thick, sweet-spicy-smoky barbecue sauce is in a class by itself, transforming the brisket into a real delicacy. Sides such as potato salad and coleslaw aren't Hall of Famers, but the soft, homemade jalapeño cheese bread is a star player.

some of the best traditional barbeque in the country. The sliced beef plate is melt in your mouth tender and whoaah, cowhands, the sides are every bit as delightful as the meat. Authentic old cowtown decor add interest to this award winning restaurant's ambiance. If you like good cookin', you're in the right place, Pardner!

Fun atmosphere; great BBQ!. The barbeque sauce at Goode Company is awesome. It could make wood taste good! It's tough to find a good table indoors, so go on a pretty day, or off-peak hours.

Best in Texas. This is the place we end up everytime the relatives come to visit for the holidays. It is by far the best bbq sauce around. My dad and brother have it on thier number 1 place to go when they come into town.

Houston's Number One 'Cue. As a Dallasite who travels to Houston very often, this is usually the first restaurant I stop at. I mean, how many other barbecue places do you know of happen to serve jambalaya and jalapeno cheese bread? Their meats are very tasty and well-smoked. They have good sauce, but you don't really need sauce on THIS 'cue! The potato salad they have is far and away the best. Of the two locations in town, I recommend the Katy Freeway location because the seating is less cramped. I could eat here sixteen times a week and never get tired of it! This has to be one of the top five barbecue joints in the state of Texas. Don't miss this place if you're from out of town.

Delicious Texas Barbeque. Delicious meats, sauces & sides. Absolutely LOVE the sausage, turkey sausage & brisket. Baked beans have a hearty smoky flavor, love the flavorful potato salad. I do wish they had more (don't laugh) lower fat sides (mixed veggies, baked potatoes?) but I manage happily without! I'm not a big fan of the spicy pork OR the cornbread, I've had better. I've never had room enough to try the pies but I dig the fact that I've been here around Thanksgiving to see that they have "drive through pies", with cars pulling up and taking their choice of apple, pumpkin &/or pecan pies without leaving the comfort of their cars! Gotta love Texas! It can get crowded in the dining room & sometimes there's a line, but it's all worth it.

Best BBQ in the WORLD!!!!. Yeah, they have a 'carport' but it is full of benches and wonderful people who keep it very clean. There is indoor seating as well but very crowded and limited. The BBQ is the best anywhere and I have been to Kansas City. The sauce is excellent and not full of cheap vinegar filler like most other BBQ joints. Brisket, jalepeno sausage, duck and turkey are some of the best items and the jalepeno bread is divine. Traditional sides of pinto beans, coleslaw and potato salad are excellent. It is so good you can even take home some of the rubs, BBQ sauces and cookbooks to try at home,. If carports are not your thing the I-10 location has full indoor dining and only 6 miles away or you can phone in an order and take it home. Oh yeah! DO NOT MISS THE PECAN PIE!!!!!!

Consistently the best BBQ in town.. Goode Company BBQ is consistently the best BBQ in Houston, and the Location at Campbell Rd & I-10 beats the Kirby location by a full mile. Goode Co. BBQ ranks with the Old Coupland Inn (Coupland Tx defunct), The Salt Lick (Dripping Springs, Tx), County Line on the Lake (Austin Tx), and Virgils BBQ on 44th Street in NYC.
