Chef David Denis' French restaurant on the Energy Corridor draws everyone from big oil execs to foodies from around town. Simply exquisite food all the time. The private chef's table is a special treat, and the desserts, like the deceptively simple apple tart, a must-not-miss.
I simply love this romantic restaurant.
Yes is french and if you have in mind that old idea of few food and pricey, well, here a unique and my best french in town, change this concept.
Is the flavors, the romantic ambience, the music, the service.....
Also try the Foodys, their bakery-little market. Delicious.
Wonderful and Romantic. Had a wonderful time here with my husband. The food and service were great, and the owner is very nice and inviting. Cant wait to go back!
Food was good. Customer Service was BAD. The fat seating guy in front was EXTREMELY rude. I made my reservation online, but it didn't go through. Maybe that's my problem. Went to the restaurant and fat seating guy said no tables available. So, OK. I said I would just sit at the bar. While I was at the bar, I told the waiter that I want the next table available in the bar area. The waiter said OK. When the table was available, the fat seating guy gave the table to someone else. So, I went to the fat guy and told him that I was waiting on that table and my waiter knows about it. The fat guy all seating arrangement has to go through him. Telling the waiter doesn't count. I understand they have their procedure. But, it is not my responsiblity to know it. From my stand point, if I tell the waiter, it is the waiter's responsibility to communite to that fat guy. How do I know I need to talk to the fat guy to get a table!!!!! I told the fat guy how piss I am, he ignores me. When there really are tables available, no one ask if I want to move. (Well, at that point, we are almost done eating. I probably wont move. But, I think it's a courtesy to ask). I hate that fat guy. He's rude. Doesn't how good the food it is, the poor customer service ruin it.
I want to go to France!!. I was thoroughly impressed with my experience at Le Mistral. I was blessed to have dined on the Duo de Canard Confit Et Rôti... like the spring Olympics on my tongue! I don't know of a better restaurant to take a gorgeous date to. I am highly impressed and I am a very picky individual when it comes to food. As for dessert I had the creme brulee which was plated oh so genius. The service was timely and observant. I have never been to France but with the robust flavors, fresh ingredients and never ending wine list I could've been an extra on Ratatouille!! Check this place out I say!!
Service staff spoiled the taste.
Last night called to make reservation for my anniversary dinner the lady host answered the phone and was far from friendly and did not know about the $25 coupon that you buy for $15. Instead of finding out she was rude about it. Either way we went ahead bought two $25 gift card over the internet and went out there. Nice ambiance, music but I guess the hostess was again not friendly when greeting and then the waiter was cold and very unprofessional. Infact the older guy who brought the bread was more pleasing that our waiter. We order french and Oregon pinot noir and oregon wins the wine cork. The appetizer scallop was great but the Salmon garnish was very salty. The duck and Red Snapper was very tasty. I think they could cut down on salt a little bit everywhere. Future customers hopefully can request less salt.
they only took one $25 gift cert but refused the second one since it is one per table so i am stuck with the second $25. I also was not aware that they add 17% tip automatically for two people. I think that is a rip off since i was not happy with the service.
Worse than last time. First time back in 3 years. My last impression was pretty good. This time, I was disappointed. The entrees and soup were nicely done. However, the waiter was rude. He acted like he didn't want to be there at all. The coffee we ordered at the end of the meal was very burnt. I could not even finish a cup. What had gone wrong with this place. It was really good last time I tried!
Great time at the chef's table.
Had a great fun dinner in the back room chefs table. Invited by my husbands friend, just happned to be our wedding anniversary. I saw some bad review but it wasn't the case with us. Great bread and beets chips were on table. Had a lovely lobster and peppery mushroom starter (very rich and filling!) j
Tender lamb chops for main and three bite size assorted sweets (I think cream brulee , profiteroles and I forgot what else)
Shame we live on the north side of town - we can't visit often enough.
Complete Incompetence Soup to Nuts Waiter.
The incompetence starts at the layout. There's not one good seat in this place. You're either next to the waiter station (water and register), the door, or the kitchen. We told them it was a special occasion when making the reservation but were seated with my wife facing the kitchen and me staring at a grotesque wrinkled cow painting.
Our waiter didn't know the specials. The bread was nearly stale. The quail in the soup I ordered was so poorly butchered that each bite had large shards of bone (not just one simple mistake as the waiter would have me believe, but three out of three bites, large bones). To make up for it, our waiter brought me what he described as their "usual everyday soup". Great. When paying for the tasting menu you don't want to be stuck with a sub-par bisque. The linguine and clams tasted like it was made from boxed linguine and overcooked, while the veal was luke warm and mediocre, inexplicably served with a corn pancake.
The only reason any stars were received is because the lamb my wife got - to replace the terrible linguine - was great. But even that took way too long to come out.
The dessert was shaped like a phallus, disgusting, and took way too long to get to us.
The check had to be redone three times.
If they're trying to be upscale, they need to rework everything from the idiot in the kitchen who can't butcher a quail to the rude tarts working the front desk to the moron who can't memorize one off-the-menu special or get a simple check right.
There are many, much better restaurants in Houston.
Bon appetite!.
After hearing raving reviews about this restaurant and passing it by almost every day, we finally decided to dine here for dinner. I'm so glad that we did! Aside from hearing actual French people eating here, speaking a language close to my heart and which I am fluent in, I was very happy to see a variety of simply French foods. The ambiance was great and service impeccable.
For an appetizer, we started with the lobster risotto. It was so cute, served with a lobster tail and tasted great! For an entree, my husband had the Red Snapper and I had the chicken pot pie --- although I know it's not as outgoing as we could've been, I really wanted to see how they measured up against the traditional foods I remember, and i have to definitely say, not bad! The fish was a great texture and the pot pie had a good flavor.
For desert, we had the chocolate soufle. Make sure you ask the waiter about this when he/she is taking your order as it takes 20 minutes for them to make.
Not worth a long drive. BAD SERVICE!! The waiter who waited on our table had a bad attitude - no "hello", "thank you" or "I am sorry I left my good attitude at home today".
