“Not enough parking, crowded at most hours of the day, the worst is that even though they have SO much variety, not much of it is very fresh. I know people are saying they have the freshest seafood and meat, but I am a vegetarian so I'm not sure about that”
“Huge variety, delicious prepared foods, i have to stress how incredible the selection is. They have stuff you would never see anywhere else in Houston. The coffee selection, stuff you can buy in bulk, chocolate, wines, breads, etc - wow, there is so much ”

“Although Central Market is expensive, the gourmet food can make a preson's mouth water!”
Best grocery superstore in Houston. It’s easy to write about things you love, so beware of superlatives in this review, because I LOVE Central Market. One of the largest grocery superstores in Houston, Central Market carries just about everything I need to live on and then some. From the freshest meats and produce, to obscure French and Italian condiments, to a cheese section that boggles the mind, to the bakery that rivals any boulangerie, to kitchen cutlery and accessories, Central Market is home to a mind-boggling number of things large and small, designed to help feed you and your family very well. The fruits and vegetables are such high quality, they can sit in my fridge for over a week and still taste like I just bought it. The deli has one of the best selections of pate in town, from mousse foie gras to your basic pate champagne, and the food-to-go section is as close as I can get to Harrod’s in Houston. The “love dip” is amazing and the made to order California Connection sandwich is an addiction that has me happily enslaved. The dining area and patio allows you to sample your gourmet eats and if you come on a weekend, you can peruse all the sample stands and try everything from the freshest apples to their freshly ground coffee, to a hot off the often piece of baked bread. Make no mistake folks, there is no place in Houston like Central Market and you are lucky to be in the midst of its splendorous existence.
Loves it. Although Central Market is expensive, the gourmet food can make a preson's mouth water! Try the bean and cheese tamales, chicken parmigana, or fresh lasagna. However, I don't do all of my grocery shopping here, because it can be quite overwhelming at times.
mmmmmmmmm.bread. so good, where can i start.....bread,cheese,candy,the orange-carrot juice, coffee, and best of all........the chocolate covered strawberrys!
GREAT EXPERIENCE. I DRIVE ALMOST 20 MILES TO GO TO THIS STORE. IT IS A GREAT STORE WITH SO MUCH STUFF. IT HAS A WONDERFUL VARIETY TO CHOOSE FROM AND THERE ARE THINGS THERE THAT I HAD NEVER HAD BEFORE AND THINGS I HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. IT IS A GREAT EXPERIENCE!
give me a break.
this is a big cold supermarket, not a sushi bar.
I'll take my sushi fresh cut from Thomas!!
The best market in Houston, period. Such a great market, I take out-of-town visitors there-and they love it too. And for those like me with food allergies, as wide a variety as Whole Foods, but with better prices and more integrity. The only place I've found in four years that makes a great wheat-free, corn-free cake (the Victorian) Where else can you get prime rib and creme brulee in a drive-thru? Make sure and sign up for the mailing list--they send out really great coupons.
Finally a Jim Jamil's replacement. Going to this market can be a truly enjoyable 1, 2, or 3 hour adventure. Browse the asiles and discover all sorts of surprising items. Cooking classes are offered, as well as entertainment on the patio in the evening. Fab selection of prepared foods to take away and enjoy at home. This place has something for practically everyone.
Best grocery store ever. I have been going to Central Market since the day they opened. No place has fresher seafood, meat, or produce. Incredible selection. Love how they are always serving samples. Great wine selection. Beautiful flowers. Great sandwiches. The service is wonderful - the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and go out of their way to help you find what you need.
Excellent. I like the big selection, everything is clean nit, very helpful personal
Unbelievable shopping!. This place is very impressive! I have made several trips since it opened. (I live 2.5 hours away.) I am an amateur chef and I love the fresh produce, wide aisles, and welcoming displays. One of my favorite things about Central Market is the area where you can purchase herbs, spices, teas, etc. in bulk. In other words, there are jars and bins where you can buy a few tablespoons of dill or some exotic spice without having to buy an entire bottle.
