great place to start and end a night. I went to the Meteor grand opening with my "fabulous" friends and it was very crowded but I was immediatley impressed. The decor is very chic, trendy and posh. Great stage to dance on (for the brave) and 2 bars makes it a little easier to get a drink. I recently went back for a friends birthday and it was another great time! The music is fun and changes throughout the night. Parking is a little challenging considering location. But i will be back again for sure!

Meteor reopened late 2007. ..and has been completely renovated and redone. Gorgeous. Love everything about this place. Great drinks, friendly people, easy parking and never a cover. Music is good too. This bar is better than anything you'd find on pacific.

Bar closed. This place was great, but it closed its doors months ago. The bars in Houston are pretty lame. This one was really the only one worth going to. The rest are smoke filled and the crowd is pretty dreadful.

Step inside a surrealist scene of flashing video monitors, wild music and arty decor.. The Scene
The Korova Milkbar in "A Clockwork Orange" has nothing on Meteor. Video screens, huge and not-so-huge, decorate the walls in a ceaseless synchronized flux of music-video artistry, playing a variety of hip, obscure bands. A prerecorded mix of hip-hop, electronica, new wave and other mood-lifting, uptempo styles flood the club. Enormous sofas and divans with mile-high backs tastefully ornament the postmodern flat. Carefully selected glasses and stemware accent the minimalist elegance of this tucked away, futuristic lounge.

The Crowd
The cast of characters in Meteor's dream sequence includes mostly younger fellas gathered in clusters of friends. Daddies are rarely spotted, but the occasional woman can be seen drinking a cosmo with her "colorful male friends," ranting about how great the place is and wishing there could be a straight bar like it.

FUN, WARM, PERSONABLE. Great Bar. Took 18 friends to play Drag Queen Bingo and everyone had a blast. The coctails were great and reasonable. Great lounge feel. Everything sleek and shiney yet the crowd made it warm and friendly. Plan to take 26 on our next trip. Would love to go back on a weekend.

Meteor is great. I moved to Houston from Ohio in August '04 and Meteor has easily become my favorite place to go out on the weekends. I like that it's a more sophisticated, yet hip and trendy crowd that gathers there. The best time to be there is on Friday nights when it's usually quite full. Drinks are almost always great...generally better than the drinks I've had at some of the other gay bars. I like the minimalistic design approach used as it allows for a lot of open, unobstructed space to people-watch. I absolutely love the music videos that they play throughout the evening. Ah, is it Friday night yet? :-)

It's About Time!. Glad to see Meteor finally get the recognition it deserves. It is the best gay/lesbian bar in town by FAR. Whether you're talking about their unique and entertaining programming or the highest level in service, you cannot go wrong.

Great place for after work drinks during the week, and it's fun for a night on the town Fridays and Saturdays. Saturdays tend to be a bit slower. Oh, and don't forget Musical Theatre Night and Drag Queen Bingo. You can't find better bar entertainment anywhere in Montrose!

A great idea.... That just needs a bit more warmth. At first, the art deco nouveau decor is cool, but then you realize that if you are not bringing a long your own clique, then chances are you'll be drinking alone and watching videos. While I'm the first to enjoy an establishment that is upscale (Meteor is), the clientele seem a bit too elitist for my tastes. Take a look and see what you think.

A sophisticated gay scene. The thing that is best about Meteor is that you are able to avoid a lot of the trash that frequent the other gay bars in Houston.

Add the fact that drinks are consistently good and the staff is incredibly friendly and you've got a great bar. I also don't have to worry about brining my straight friends here; they aren't accosted as they would be elsewhere.

Meteor is cool, comfortable, charismatic. Meteor has become my favorite gay bar/lounge. It's a great place to chill, people-watch, and enjoy cocktails. Cute servers, great lounge-style seating, sleek interiors and surfaces, etc.
