Editorial Review for The Pelican House Bed & Breakfast Inn – by Gayot.com
The Scene
Sitting on more than an acre of land surrounded by live oak and pecan trees, this almost century old home resides across the channel from Kemah, a popular dining, shopping and entertainment district. Despite its convenient proximity to bustle, its atmosphere is decidedly bucolic--a white, wood-frame house with a picket fence and view of the bay.
The Details
Fresh flowers, murals, a hot tub, rocking chairs and a paddleboat set this B&B apart. There are four rooms to choose from here, each with its own signature qualities. The Heron Room features hardwood floors and an antique chandelier. The Pelican Room has its own private entrance to the side porch, where you can gaze out at the bay. The Fish Room is decorated with fish bowls painted onto the walls, mosquito netting drapes and a feather duvet. And the bright yellow walls of the Egret Room offer a tropical feel; it also offers French doors that lead to the back deck. Pottery made by a former NASA engineer who resided here is available for sale.
