Bad Food....Bad Value...Never Again!

Bad Service. Small portions. High price. Unequal treatment.

My family and I were seated for a few minutes as we watched the waitresses stand around and talk. It seemed as though they were trying to decide as to who would have to serve us.

Steer clear of this restaurant. The food portions were small and they do not come with any sides (fries, etc.). What kind of restaurant does not offer sides with the meal?

Sure, most items on the menu are roughly $10.00, but at the portion sizes that we were given, it should have been half the price. I felt like I was paying the waitress her wage as we left paying way more than we should have.

I have heard of this restaurant and thought that it might be a good experience; boy, was I wrong. My family could not help but notice that as soon as other customers (Caucasians) entered the establishment, that the waitresses were waiting on them hand and foot, not to mention that they ordered more food and theirs came out first. Getting a glass of water took long enough! To really top things off, we had the "pleasure" of being watched by a Caucasian man as we ate. Those sunglasses aren't fooling anyone.... especially if you are staring directly at us!

More on the last point, everyone eating there was white. I suppose they did not appreciate our presence. I will never eat there again.

A real disappointment

We just returned from the Memorial restaurant and it was a real disappointment. The food was definitely NOT "fresh cooked". The burger tasted like it had been cooked previously and re-heated in the microwave. The fries were over cooked. My hiusband had a chili burger and said the chili (or the burger) was not that great. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and we will certainly not return.

I don't like chains. They tend to become slaves of corporate greed and cut corners; the result is usually under-par food. Beck's Prime might just be the exception to the rule. Not content with having a solidly good burger, they step things up with some of the best milkshakes in Houston. And best of all? It's located smack dab in the middle of Memorial Park! Talk about an awesome location. The burgers have good, flavourful beef and crisp, fresh vegetables; they finish things off with some of the best, buttery buns in the business to make it the meanest burger in town. Of course, quality comes with a price, and expect to pay a good 12 dollars a head here, but when you take into consideration how damn good the burgers are, you pay it happily.

Beck's has a wide variety of burgers and mine have always been good. That said, they're pretty pricey for what you get. On the other hand, some of their locations are great including one with a huge oak tree beneath which diner's can eat in an almost park-like atmosphere. I prefer the local Barnaby's chain of burger places; table service for just about the same price.

• Pros: Good hamburgers
• Cons: Can be a bit slow and not a great value considering no table service.

I love the burgers because it's cook to order and it's always juicy. You can tell it's made fresh just from the taste. The food is pretty consistant, unlike other hamburger places.
