“If youve never tried their chocolate cake, you wil pass out: its the best chocolate cake ive ever had, and ive had alot of cake in my life.”
“Be careful when you order red wine.”
“Good food, service, and huge portions”
“The white pizza, not on the menu but made special for me, was excellent with just the right amount of gorganzola cheese and carmelized onions!”
“This is by far the best italian food in Houston- with portions being family style, it's a good place for big groups and special occassions.”
“Not a bad place for large groups of people with no better taste in Italian food than spaghetti and commercial tomato sauce.”
“The food is overpriced, and our server was slooooow.”
“After waiting over an hour for a take out that I was told shoud only take twenty minutes and some lame excuse from the staff, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who is willing to spend money and wants to be treated like a decent human being.”
what a change. This was our family restaurant that we used to go every other week, up until last year. Since our teenager boy start asking to try different restaurants/taste, we were not at Buca for a year or may be a little longer. Last night, we decided to have a nostalgic dinner and stopped by Buca. This was, unfortunately, an unpleasant reunion. Our receptionist was nice and tried to locate us in a peaceful place but his manager (!) insisted in a highly noisy room that we had to change, eventually. On our way to our table, we were almost run over by a waitress and she didn't seem like she cared at all. All seemed the same from outside but almost any item in the menu, that we used to love, has changed. Shockingly different ceasar salad (no more anchovies), highly greasy pizza, OK spaghetti, some ordinary bread to start munching with no olive oil on the table. Their house Chianti, however, was as tasty as we remember. I was adequately curious to ask whether the management has changed and sure enough, the ownership have changed. I hope they can restore their old ambiance and taste but we will be hesitant to try again for a while - but remember old days' Buca that we had so many lovely memories… …
Family style eatin'.
Bring 4 or 5 people so you can order lots of things. If you go with a date, you will only be able to order an entree and a side. No salad, bread or dessert.
I like the food and the cheesy atmosphere. Be careful when you order red wine. It is sometimes chilled. You may not mind, but it kinda freaks me out.
Imagine bring in prison. I expected quality. I felt as if in prison. the owner kicked us from a birthday party after a bit over an hour as " he needed to seat another party." We had not even cut the cake! The owner was napoleonish, and we will never, EVER consider returning!
chicken marsala is the best. their chicken marsala is the best i've had, yummy sauce!! however, the prices are a little high for the atmosphere and type of food you're getting....love to take it to-go, because the restaurant is a little loud and impersonal....
Awesome. We went there for my 20th birthday this past September. The waiter was amazing and attentive, and the manager checked on us to make sure we were having a good time at least twice. The food was perfect and my entire family had a wonderful time. I HIGHLY reccomend going there, whether for a birthday, anniversary, or just a regular dinner date.
Get cozy with friends and family and enjoy an Italian feast at this loved-by-locals restaurant..
In Short
Homesick for your mother's Italian cooking? Grab your appetite and head to this restaurant, where the friendly wait staff will serve up portions of Colosseum-esque proportions, like spaghetti and meatballs loaded with savory tomato sauce and lots of pungent garlic. Dishes center on Southern Italian immigrant fare, and are meant to be shared family-style with a large goblet of wine-to enhance the taste, of course. The ornate décor with walls covered in vintage photos evokes a warm homey feel that welcomes customers to dine among the other families and loyal customers. Buon Appetito!
Charge me $2.50 for a very small plate of plain spaghetti. I can't believe they charged me $2.50 for a plate of plain spaghetti for my 10 month old daughter. I actually asked if they can just give me a little bit, but they sent a very small plate. Food is ok, not bad, service is also good.
Interesting decor, decent italian food and drinks. Similarly to other reviewers, I would not recommend this place for special occasions. However, you got to try to place once. The decor is interesting and the serving size is huge. The food is average but I do love their caesar salad with anchovies (you have to ask for it) and they make a good margarita. The service is spotty as we went here several times and sometimes we get good service while other times it was average. I don't recommend sitting at the kitchen table because it tends to be very noisy and we people walking pass you to get into the main dinning rooms, you feel like you're on display.
WORSE ITALIAN FOOD. We went for first time last night with another couple.....HORRIBLE service....HORRIBLE Food!! Photos around the restaurant were the only positive thing.
worst place in town. Owner came by and told us we needed to leave as he needed the table. What a rude and disgusting little man.
