“The bartenders are actually FRIENDLY and the waitstaff is quick.”
HORRIBLE SERVICE. Went there Friday after a wonderful dinner to celebrate a birthday. The waitress for the patio area so beyond horrible. My friends had to go to the bar to get their drinks after completely ignoring another friend's drink order. The icing on the cake - she tried to charge us twice for our bill. WILL NEVER GO AGAIN. We informed the manager - she needed to be fired.
Great for good friends and good drinks. One of my favorite places to meet up with friends for a good night out. Great drinks and a friendly place!
like the "Cheers" of midtown. I work a few doors down at a restaurant and frequently my co-workers and I go to the porch after work or to eat there between shifts. We love Tony, Colin, Shannon, Caroline, James, Lauren, Bethany, Tiffany, Brooke, Stephanie and Sarah. We are in the service industry so it's nice to be taken care of after a long night of taking care of our guests. The service at Front Porch rocks. The food is really delicious and the kitchen is open until 1AM. I have been going there over a year and have only had one bad experience, just one. Every other visit has been great. It's a casual atmosphere where you see everything from shorts and flip flops to those dressed for a night of clubbing. If you haven't been, I highly recommend you try it!
Good for beers with friends, not dressy, trashy. Okay so this place was pretty much a less trashy version of woodrows, but still pretty trashy compared to most of the nicer places surrounding it in the heart of midtown. first time going last night was a friday and my friend and i who are both very beautiful walked in by ourselves to check it out. There was a nice amount of people but it seemed like majority were paired off into groups and talking amongst themselves, except of course for us, and the weirdos standing alone. We relocated a couple times, bartenders weren't the greatest and they all seemed pretty stressed out. Around 12:45 a.m. a belligerent drunk elbowed my friend in the eyeball by accident and i got into it with him and nobody would kick him out. We took off to washington st. and will probably never return to the place.
Great staff, food and atmosphere!. So I just moved here. Im from up north, and let me tell you...EVERYONE HERE IS SO NICE! The waitress' are so good looking, sweet and really know their stuff! The one that served us kept our table clean and our beers full. She was the example of "A Blonde Texas Beauty" with some comedic background! I loved the mini corn dogs and the pizza. It was no "deep dish" but I'm lovin the thin crust now. Fun music was playing thanks to the bartender I met named Tony. He was pretty funny as well. The age group ranged from 20's to 30's...perfect! I don't want to be around young kids or creepy old men. I WILL BE COMING BACK! :)
Best crawfish I've found in Houston.
The crawfish is amazing and this is the 2nd year in a row I've gone for that reason. They are huge, very spicy, and reasonably priced at $3.75/lb. Get there early for crawfish because they usually run out of places to sit.
The crowd at Front Porch is mostly professionals after work looking for a few drinks, but at nights and on the weekends there are usually more locals that live in the area visiting. Visit the new "Porchswing Pub" in the heights for a more casual crowd if that is what you prefer. Its the same bar (basically) and same owner.
I would have given this place 5 stars but for as long as I can remember, Front Porch has horrible draft beer. Stick to bottles and you'll be OK.
Great Happy Hour Sport. Great after work place. There's a great mix of crowd and their deck is really a nice feature and huge which is nice in midtown. Decent pub food and a convenient location if you work downtown. If you want to watch a game there, it isn't great.
So much fun!!. I love coming here during the week after work-it's so great to sit out on the patio with a bucket of beer and some friends. Good crowd, alot of young professionals. It gets crowded at night, but never so bad that you wait forever for a table. It's one of my favorite places in Houston!! Very chill, relaxed vibe-nothing pretentious at all.
Great For Sports, Beer, and Friends.
Everytime I go here, I run into so many cool people. It's a great place to meet fun and interesting people and to meet up with your friends just to hang out. There are good food and drink specials, and the waitstaff is awesome!
I love that you can sit outside on a nice day and enjoy a beer while watching sports on the bigscreen they have on the porch and enjoy the weather. You can bring your dog with you if you sit outside which is pretty cool. It's very relaxed and comfortable.
I highly recommend Front Porch Pub and I will definately be going back many more times.
A porch worth stoppin' by and sittin' for a spell..
In Short
A crowd of beer taps at the bar matches the crowd of drinkers on the front porch of this leisurely pub at downtown's edge. There are even more beers bottled for the beer enthusiast. Mellow out with chocolate stout against brick-and-plaster walls, or play some pool on one of the tables overlooking Gray Street. The urban-casual, 20-something crowd is multicultural, albeit conservative; men decked out in khakis, women in long skirts.
