Houston >Houston Maritime Museum
This Medical Center museum is home to some of Houston's most unique maritime gems..
Retired naval architecture James Manzolillo laid the foundations of this maritime museum that is one of its kind in the city. The collection features a variety of historic gems such as an 1812 diving helmet, a piece of coal taken from the Titanic and the tooth of a prehistoric shark. In addition, the museum contains a small library where visitors are welcome to browse through and explore the oceanic literature. Visitors can tour the "shipyard" where they can get a peek at how model ships are built and restored.
