Great Finish to Our Black History Celebration

Our team waited until the end of February to decide what we were going to do as a unit for Black History month. Of course, the topic of food always comes up with these things and this year, we chose The Family Cafe as our caterer and WOW, was that a great choice! The food was great, the service was great - Donald came out and set it all up for us and we, each and every one of us, enjoyed that lovely food, especially the fried chicken, candied yams and peach cobbler! We now have a relationship with The Family Cafe and will be using them to cater other events for our group in the future!

Fresh, perfectly seasoned, well priced homecookin'

It is very difficult to find "comfort food" that is not drenched in grease. The Family Cafe proved to be the very first independent, southern style restaurant I have ever visited where all vegetables were cooked to perfection! Not mushy, not overly salty and not greasy. Instead, every vegetable tasted very fresh were seasoned just right. In addition to the staff being very helpful and friendly, Family Cafe is very clean inside. Needless to say, I will be back soon and will bring friends.

• Pros: Non-greasy veggies, cleanliness, fast service
• Cons: inside reminds me of a hospital cafeteria

Thanksgiving

I ordered Thanksgiving dinner and was told varying days/hours to retireve the meal by the staff. When I finally arrived, I was informed by staff that they had no meals left; though I had prepaid for my entire meal. A request to speak with the manager/owner resulted in a meal located, but not the identified dessert. There were NO apologies for the confusion or delay. On Thanksgiving day, when I began to heat the meal, I did a taste test and the food was AWFUL! The dressing was OVER seasoned, the green beans were SOUR and the turkey was OLD and TOUGH. I will NEVER purchase another morsel of food from Family Cafe. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!
