Great shopping, eating, and entertainment all in one place!. Great place to shop, eat, and hang out! All dining is good here EXCEPT Brian O'Niels Irish Pub. They have the WORST service and sub par food. There are many types of resteraunts in this area to satiate the pickiest eaters. You can meet all your shopping needs in one stop here! Great night life in this area after dark too!
A small-town feel and big-name variety make this constantly-evolving retail mecca a popular shopping destination..
The Scene
The area took shape in 1937 with the construction of Rice Food Market. Situated next to Rice University and the Texas Medical Center in one of Houston's most affluent neighborhoods, the district attracts an intriguing mix of West U yuppies, college students and Montrose bohos.
The Goods
More than 450 retailers reside in this longstanding, but repeatedly refreshed shopping center. In the Village, you can buy clothes, get a manicure, shop for furniture, browse for books, dine delightfully and even catch a play. Shops range from national favorites Banana Republic and Urban Outfitters to local boutiques like the Blue Hand. Main Street Theater and the music venue Ovations add some class.
Galleria, go Bye-Bye! :).
This has to be Houston's shopping mecca, what makes Houston one of the best places to shop! The Rice Village has everything from The Gap to Main Street Theater, to The Gingerbread all in a few blocks of lovely urban space.
This is my shopping haven!
The Best of the Best. This is one of the greatest places to shop. The village is more convenient and not as crowded as the Galleria.
I miss the old Rice Village.... back before it was a yuppie mall... before Iconography closed and the British Market vanished... even so, there are still cool, funky shops and unique places to eat, and you don't have to look too hard -- the Half Price Books is killer and Europe in the Village has the best Christmas ornaments ever
