Hermann Park
view & upload“It is a beautiful park filled with secrets that you can only discover with a good, comfortable pair of shoes and a sense of adventure.”
“The park is right by Hotel Zaza which is dog friendly.”
“The space is huge and there's always something new to explore, from the tree-lined paths to the numerous play sets with plenty of swings and slides (and be honest, they're not just for kids).”

Seems big but it's a manageable park that offers picnicking, pedal boating and plenty of live, free events.
Scenic Area Is by Zaza.
Hermann Park is not quite a dog lover's park, but it is scenic, manicured, and massive. The park is right by Hotel Zaza which is very dog friendly. The park area beside Zaza does not have any doggy bag stations or water faucets. They do have wonderful fountains, benches, and sculptures.
You may want to read up on the SPCA's site on poisonous plants and flowers before going. Warning: They have landscaped what appears to be some of those short Sago Palms and their seeds are poisonous to dogs.
Parking can be a challenge.
Dog Park coming soon!. Hermann Park will be getting a dog park in the future!
Beautiful Grounds Not As Dog Friendly.

Huge park, fun for all.
Hermann Park is a rare and great grassy, shady area in Houston that everyone can appreciate. The space is huge and there's always something new to explore, from the tree-lined paths to the numerous play sets with plenty of swings and slides (and be honest, they're not just for kids).
Go hand out with friends during the day, take your kids to play in an afternoon, or go on an evening walk for a unique (and cheap!) date. Just be aware that the park does close at night and that if you're there after closing, security will ask you to leave, which isn't a bad idea.
Most beautiful scenery in Houston. I can spend hours upon hours at this park. The gardens are amazing, especially the Japanese garden. Follow every trail and discover something new and beautiful. Now, with all the changes that are being made to the park, it is an even beautiful.
Houston's Best Kept Secret.
If you haven't seen Hermann Park recently, I HIGHLY recommend you see what they've done with the place. It is a beautiful park filled with secrets that you can only discover with a good, comfortable pair of shoes and a sense of adventure.
Start your expedition at the Sam Houston statue, and don't leave until you find the Enchanted Throne!!
This shady public space offers trails, picnic areas, a golf course, an amphitheater and the zoo..
The Background
From Fannin Street near the Medical Center, you can see the bronze statue of George Hermann standing on a granite-paved court. Hermann donated 278 acres for the city's first public park, along with $2.5 million to build nearby Hermann Hospital.
The Appeal
The park rests on 401 acres in the heart of the Museum District. Joggers, cyclists and skaters make use of the many paths and trails, while picnicking families flock to the park on weekends. The live oaks and huge grassy areas invite an afternoon with the kids and a Frisbee. Things to see within the park include the Kipp Aquarium, Houston Zoological Gardens, Miller Outdoor Theater, Houston Garden Center, Japanese Garden, a public golf course, the equestrian statue of General Sam Houston, and the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors' Plaza.
Ahhh. A Day at the park.... This place is fantastic! It is shady, has walking trails, riding trails, and is close to several museums, the Zoo and Miller Outdoor Theater, to name just some of the things that make it appealing for a day outing. You can plan a day at the park, and then just go with the flow!
Best golf deal..
Course is in great shape with the exception of some bumpy greens. Very lush surroundings.
Holes tend to be on the shorter side (e.g., 478 yd par 5), but nonetheless are still challenging. Enough water and blind shots to test your accuracy.
Best excuse to leave work early? How about a $14 green fee to walk 18 after 2pm on weekdays; $6 more for a cart!
Never had a problem walking on, but I doubt that will last as nice as this course is.
