“sometimes the atmosphere can seem a bit pretentious, but the ringside all and all is an interesting alternative to other bar venues around town for those in their 30's or older.”
“We ate at the bar, and the food was great!”
“The restaurant serves great food, and the bar outside Ringside offers a small jazz band and TVs to catch up on the sports scores.”
“The best place to let my hair down after an incredible meal.”
“Once we got into the private club area, service was excellent.”
“the drinks are a bit pricy - $10 or so without a tip, but high prices do serve to keep a lot of undesirable clientele away and you don't have to worry about a group of drunken louts ruining your evening out.”
definately for an older crowd. i've been to the sullivan's ringside bars on westheimer several times over the years. i say 'bars' because there are two of them - a main room, and then another room that has a dance floor and small stage for live music. the main room most nights has a small live act - or at least a piano player. the music in this room is geared towards the 50+ or so crowd - mostly jazz-ish standards. the rear room (which used to be free but now has a $10 cover!) has other acts, including a pretty good house band that does contemporary pop/rock and r&b covers from the 80's and on. generally the staff service is very good with experienced bartenders and hostess people. the crowd tends to be older - 30's and above. dress is business professional, but there's a wide range there. some guys come in in jeans and a polo, but most are in jackets. the women tend to be more dressed-up which makes sense for an evening out in the Galleria. the drinks are a bit pricy - $10 or so without a tip, but high prices do serve to keep a lot of undesirable clientele away and you don't have to worry about a group of drunken louts ruining your evening out. it used to promote itself as a cigar bar but since CoH imposed the no-smoking ban in bars, well...but you can still purchase premium stogies there and go outside if that's your thing. as for the singles scene, it can be somewhat of a meat market on a crowded evening. sometimes the atmosphere can seem a bit pretentious, but the ringside all and all is an interesting alternative to other bar venues around town for those in their 30's or older.
This chic and stylish Galleria establishment upholds the demeanor of its posh neighborhood..
In Short
Built as part of the upscale Sullivan's Steakhouse in the Galleria area, Ringside was created for those who want to digest their steaks in a comfortable, intimate environment, or for those who like to dress up and be seen in their Saturday-night best. Look for jazz, cigars and spirits galore. Nosh on appetizers while enjoying a premium cigar or a Sullivan's martini.
Busy Place. Busy place - and very crowded. The bar was packed took a long time to get a drink. Once we got into the private club area, service was excellent. We ate at the bar, and the food was great! Salads and appetizers. Friendly bartender.
Highly recommended. This mos def the place to take your lady, the crowd is always dressed to impress, and the bands are always jamming, I had a bit of a run in with a drunk guy, not acting decent around my lady, a waiter notice and before i would get a in a scuffle security and floor manager escorted him out. The crowd is 30+. So if you are under 30, dress right, cause you will stand out.
Ringside at Sullivan's. Great place to go to meet singles of all ages, but I appreciate the large number of 35+ single women. Wed - Sat nights offer live music, always a decent cover band or better! Drinks are good, plenty of bartenders and waitresses. The restaurant serves great food, and the bar outside Ringside offers a small jazz band and TVs to catch up on the sports scores.
lisapisa. The Best Waiter I have ever been served by is here. The best best Creme Brulee is here, and it is served for two...... The best Vodka drinks are here and the impressive wine list. This was a diamond in the rough find for me. This is the place I want to have special occasion dinners at. The best place to let my hair down after an incredible meal. Yummy. The staff made us feel comfortable and special. The Server deserved every bit on the 100.00 tip. I tell everyone I know to eat there and enjoy music after. You really do get what you pay for here.
Upscale and Professional. Sullivans is a nice restaurant/club where you'll find an upscale crowd and good music. I would estimate the average age of the clientele is 40 something. Nice place to enjoy a martini or margarita although it is not that easy to get a drink. On Saturday nights, the club gets pretty full and people just stand around the bar to chat. Getting to the bartender is sometimes a little difficult. The live music is usually better than most other clubs but there is not a real dance floor. You dance wherever you can find a little space. The live music ends around 1am and the crowd dwindles down by about 1:30am. If you like an older, professional crowd, with good music, this place may be for you.
