Editorial Review for Galleria Shopping Center – by Karen Sommer Shalett
The Scene
With the 2003 opening of Galleria IV, anchored by Nordstrom and Foley's, this ritzy shopping center has grown from an exclusive group of pret-a-porter boutiques and cafes to a full-blown retail mecca. With more than 400 stores, the Galleria ranks as the fifth-largest mall in the country, housing several concept stores not found anywhere else in Houston. Tourists and locals alike flock to the mammoth rink, 34 eateries and two hotels--the Westin Oaks and Westin Galleria.
The Goods
With names like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, you'd think everything might cost a fortune. Some of it does, like Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent, but there are also plenty of moderate shops. Popular spots include Dylan's Candy Bar, J. Crew, Betsey Johnson, Hot Topic, Swatch, Club Monaco, Brooks Brothers and Brooks Brothers Woman.

I hadn't been to Houston in over 10 years so I was told that the galleria is the place you must go to! It was a dream! I wish I had money when I went! I love the juicy store there- had to bypass the chanel store or I would've been in serious overspending trouble. When I went we didn't stay for long- we didn't even go through half of the mall! it's so huge! go to the galleria just to say you've gone.
Pros: juicy!! chanel!! neiman's!!
Cons: CROWDED! EVEN ON A SUNDAY not for the claustrophobic

There are a variety of stores in the galleria. There are stores that are very cheap ($20 for a shirt) and stores that are really expensive like Louis Vuitton and Gucci. There is something for everyone at the Galleria. There is an abundance of food places to dine at and plenty of parking.
