So-So Food / Nice Bar!. I really use to like this place, but they have become too corporate. It was a busy day and my mother has asthma, and I wanted to get her seated ASAP, so I ran to the host stand ahead of my family. I gave them our name and said I need a table asap because my mother has a medical condition, and they ignored me and started seating people who walked in behind me until my family walked in, and then we had to wait and my sick mother had to stand in the heat. I have gone to Landry's and done this without a problem, but the Pappa's family has too many rules. I did like the cozy bar, but that is the only thing nice I have to say.
ADA Unfriendly!. I wish I could comment about the food, but unfortunately Pappas would not accommodate my Grandmother's 80th birthday party. We had 4 individuals, in our party of eight, that utilize some kind of mobility device (Crutches, Wheelchair, and two with canes). We tried to call and setup a reservation in advance to ensure an adequate space was setup for mobility, and wait times that required standing were minimized. Pappas informed us that they would not accept a reservation for less than 10 people, even with our special needs. We will not patronize Pappas for their total lack of class, concern, & disregard for those with limited mobility & ADA needs. Shame on you!
Its Ok. I have been here several times but everytime I go there I feel there is no flavor! They have fresh and delicious ingredients but they fail to mix them. Overall it is acceptable.
The best seafood I've had in a long time.. Just passing through from Houston and decided to try the restaurant. It is appealing from the interstate. I'm not much on Spinach dip appetizer but thiers is the best anywhere. It's served with parmesan garlic bread -- wonderful. Got to try the Greek salad - delicious as is the blackened catfish. We didn't have anything that wasn't great. Our waitress was friendly and helpful in choosing from the menu. Would definitely go again.
GREAT SEAFOOD NORTH OF GALVESTON. THIS SEAFOOD RESTAURANT IS GRET FOR BROILED OR FRIED SEAFOOD CATFISH BROILED OR FRIED IS GREAT AND FRIED SHRIMP IS THE BEST ANYWHERE AND ETOUFFE IS WORTH TRYING ONE POUND LOBSTER WITH SIDES IS GOOD VALUE
Casual seafood restaurant offers large servings of primarily Gulf Coast seafood with a price and atmosphere ideal for families..
The Scene
An early inspiration of the legendary Pappas family, this seafood restaurant aims to maintain the family tradition of good food and friendly service. It is located in a feeder-road strip center and is housed in a nautically inspired building, with dining tables separated into small sections separated by wood and glass dividers. Service is casual and unrefined.
The Food
Known for its fresh fish and signature sauces, Pappa's offers a wide variety of fried, grilled, pan-broiled, blackened and boiled seafood. Though much of the menu comes from Texas, other favorites include Canadian scallops, Mississippi catfish, Costa Rican tilapia, Australian lobster tails and Louisiana crawfish. Raw oysters make a great start, as does the Greek salad and lobster bisque. Angus rib-eye and grilled chicken breast are available for folks not into seafood. Key lime pie, pecan pie and chocolate brownies help sweeten things up before the trip home.
WONDERFUL SEAFOOD AND SERVICE.. THIS RESTAURANT HAS GREAT RECIPES THAT ARE EXECUTED TO PERFECTION. TRY THE CRAB CAKES, THE BEST EVER AND WORTH THE PRICE. THE SERVICE IS ATTENTIVE WITHOUT BEING OVERBEARING. UPON BEING GREETED ASK FOR KATIE, A GREAT AND FRIENDLY SERVER THAT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME. YOU WILL SPEND A FEW BUCKS BUT WILL LEAVE SATISIFIED AND WANT TO RETURN.
Great seafood without Kemah traffic!. I really enjoyed my visit to Pappa's seafood. The food was great and well presented. The staff was attentive and friendly. I enjoyed getting great seafood without having to deal with the Kemah chaos!
